Recovery involves doing - going to meetings working our program, reaching out to others. We don't get a job by sitting at home thinking about it, and we don't get a degree by looking at college catalogs.
It's true that we need to reflect; we need quiet times when we pray for guidance. There comes a point, however, when action is called for, when we use the power we are given to carry out our Higher Power's will for our lives to the best of our understanding.
One action leads to another. Doing what we need to do to be abstinent today adds 24 hours to recovery.
Today, I will act on my best understanding of my Higher Power's will or me.
Action!!!!!! ... That was the main theme of my discussion with my sponsee last night ... ... ... he wants a job but wont go fill out the damn applications ... I told him that until he takes the 'action' to get a job, it ain't go'n to just happen ... same with sobriety ... it Don't just happen ... Ha!!!

Ask him if he took any action to drink his beer lol
Maybe he needs to realize he didn't get drunk without action - and he isn't going to get undrunk (undrunk???LOL) or get past being unemployed without action!

Yes ... Yes ... the conversation went a lot like that ... it's like you were in the car with us ... LOL
You know what, ??? it's like every time I get new sponsee, I think wow, how can there be another 'human being' so F'd up ... ... ... ??? I started to describe his situation, but ... ... ... hummmmm ... there are some smart people out there that may be capable of breaking through the anonymity shield ... so all I am going to say is that I forced myself to listen to this guy for an hour before our meeting and for another hour after ...
I said one thing that he almost jumped out of the car with ... ... ... it was like he never saw this coming and it was like a bomb going off in his head ...
I said simply ... ... ... You feel trapped! ... ... ... and you're looking for a way out! ... BAM ... BAM ...
I've never seen a person react like that ... it kinda scared me ... it was like I revealed a GREAT MYSTERY ... I went on to say that he was a man without a plan ... I said here's what we are going to do ... ... ... Wow ... at the very least, I got a good feeling from the whole thing ... today, I'm still sober!!! ... (and smoke free, for today)
