I stepped on the scale this morning at 179lbs. 14 pounds lighter that I was 21 days ago. I'm leaving for the gym now as I'm in training for ski season, next trip is a week from today in Breckenridge. I bought a ski helmet recently because the off duty ski patrol that I skied a day with in Park City last month said I was the fastest 50 yo skier he'd seen and faster than most 30 year olds for that mater. I'm meeting an old friend form high school in Colorado that said he was going to leave me in the dust on his snow board lol. Will post pics next weekend.

Just one thing Dean .... Please tell me you color the gray out of your hair!!! ... OR ... that you took this pic about 15 years ago ... LOL
P.S. I really pray your next pic after Colorado isn't one with your leg 'elevated' to keep the pressure off a fracture ... or worse yet, a neck brace ... Be Safe ... and remember ... you are too old to go around and yell ... HEY YALL, WATCH THIS!!! ...

'Those who leave everything in God's hand will eventually see God's hand in everything.'
An old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep trouble now!"
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly,
"Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.
"Whew!" says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.
The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.
The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"
Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says...
"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!"
Moral of this story...
Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery! Cunning and brilliance only come with age and experience.
If you don't send this to five 'old' friends right away, there will be five fewer people laughing in the world.
Of course, I am in no way insinuating that you are old, just 'youthfully challenged.'
I just had to say that this joke made me think of StPeteDean and Tomas ... ... ... Sorry, I can't hep it ...

Nice deck Dean...tickled my imagination...Good for you keeping up the young and fast attitude. That will keep you one step ahead of lots of guys. Good Luck on the down hill run. Cute story Pap...reminds me to remember that "God gave us brains to use". LOL
thanks brothers and sisters, decks is what I do for a living so naturally my mountain home has 4 of them. That's the lowest level (of 3 floors) the guest quarters. Pappy that photo was taken last October, I was 20 lbs. heavier, and that's my real hair, no gray ones yet.
Actually RubyT, ... ... ... I think Dean is trying to teach me to 'drink' the next right thing ...
BUT here's how I see it ... I don't think there's enough time left on this planet for me to drink enough 'right stuff' to even begin to make me look as good as he does ... and well, the exercise ??? I just plain ole think that would put me 'flat out on the slab' in a heartbeat ... ... ... You just can't squeeze 15/20 years of good healthy living into and old crusty 60 y/o body ... well, okay, I can hear Dean now in the back of my head yelling if you start today, you CAN do that if you live to 80 ... ... ... Damn ... ... ... and he'd be right .... ... ...
Okay, I didn't want to have to do this ..... but since we do 'total honesty' here ..... I'm just too frickin' lazy, people .... AND I happen to like my 'ice cream' .... AND I happen to enjoy chewing my vegetables rather than drinking them ... THERE, NOW Ya'll happy??? ...

Thanks Pappy, yes my grandmother blessed me with some great hair. Her grandfather was a swede. She had long blond hair that never grayed it just got lighter as she faded into the twilight. Getting sober at 29 helped I'm sure. I've eaten about $20,000 worth of vitamins since then. I'm a big fan of raw bee pollen. Been eating it daily since '98. Before that blue green algae for 10 years. I got a "nutri-bullet" food processor for christmas and have had lots of fun, daily, with making veggie smoothies with it. Going roller blading today.
Okay, we need to end this thread soon ... I'm starting to get 'depressed' ... or maybe it's 'envy' ? ... I don't know ... but I do know that I can't just eat my way to losing 20 years off my age ...
Thanks for your 'example' Dean ... it makes me want to 'eat' the next right thing! ... Ya know, I do have a few guns but I don't think any of them shoot that 'nutri-bullet' thingy of which you speak ... I'll keep my eyes open at the next gun show ... ...
Think I have a better chance of meeting up with Ponce and finding the 'F' of 'Y' ... ... ...

Pappy, the nurtibullet is awesome. Comes with a book, just head to the produce section and grab some spinach, broccoli, snow peas, baby carrots, beets, apples, pears, pineapple, celery, kiwi, almonds, flax seed, ginger....and whatever other veggies/fruits that you like, stuff it in the bullet with some water and instant smoothies. I lost about a pound a day for the first 8 days. trade your ice cream money in for a couple months at the gym and you'll feel 10 years younger in 90 days. (sound familiar lol)
LOLOL!!!! Dont worry Paps....Dean forgot to mention...that he sleeps IN FORMALDAHYDE!!!!! I will not accept that THAT is a 50 year old face!!!! All that clean livin'!!!!????? Bee juice? No way! Its GOTTA be formaldahyde!

Me too Dean. I do the bee pollen and drink organic veggies with pineapple and don't forget lots and lots of papaya too... I hate ginger, but I do love spices and keep an herb garden in the the sun room and just eat pinches of it daily. I like to make sure and put probiotics in with my daily regimen of vitamins - I hope you've done your research on probiotics... you can't just buy any ol' ones : )
I remember an old guy, and I mean really old timer guy who's been around a while and still expects to see people come in looking pretty rough and shaky - and I was looking pretty rough, but even while I was drinking more than gallons upon gallons of alcohol, I ate SUPER super healthy like this and always loaded up on the mega vits to restore my body after a particularity long binge. The craziness of all the juggling of 'taking a break from drinking to let my vitamins soak in' and then binging it up again - but that's exactly what I did! Wild!
In the end, I noticed that if I drank organic beer and wine that I didn't feel any sort of hang over, so I spent ungodly amounts of money guzzling expensive organic wines and all the while trying to tell myself it was good for me - anyway - that old guy gave me the one over up and down thingy with his bug eyes and said "hrmf... you don't look too beat up" and I just laughed... but really, I think it's because I'm just as "moreish" when it comes to health food as I was with alcohol! LOL
I try to keep it simple now, and stick with the basics - but I do the bee pollen and the probiotics and I drink the veggies too : )
I see some people are shooting up vitamins now.... I just had to laugh... I'm not that crazy... YET!

Tasha, do you get your bee pollen fresh (not freeze dried) from a local bee keeper? Big difference. I took Cell Tech's probiaotics from about '94-2008 then switched. What brand do you take? I really like the dannon activa yogurt?
I take probiotic 14 from good health naturally USA - back when I started taking it, it had the most strains, and was one of the few in the billions for activity. Now there are a lot of choices out there, but I loved the customer service from GHN USA too - they actually called me to let me know my package showed in their system that it arrived on my door, and that I should go get it and put it in the fridge... even though it says on the bottle that it's not necessary to refrigerate, and explained why. I loved that... so I have always stuck with them since... going on about 5 yrs now I think.
As far as eating probiotics in yogurt - that's awesome - but I would chose organic yogurt for SURE - and probably go with plain and just ad it to the smoothie you're already doing or put local honey or maple syrup, or even agave nectar or stevia. There is A TON of sugar in danon and other yogurts even organic... and it's not necessary. Any fruit or granola will sweeten it plenty... even berries or a dab of home made jam will be better.
Some of the reasons to take really good probiotics would be if you were never breast fed. Your gut will not naturally have a lot of things it functions best on. In my opinion, it's great for anyone at any age, and I give my kids lots of yogurt, and will suggest they take probiotics some day too even through they were breast fed and so was I. You'll have to do some reading on it when you have time. The other thing with yogurts that are not organic is they have tons of fillers to give them the right consistency... because they do not go through the natural fermenting process... and because they have all those fillers... they then have to have preservatives... and pretty soon you're left with nothing but a cup of sugar and unpronounceable other things, and some milk from sick cows loaded up on antibiotics. Trader joes has organic yogurt for only pennies more than the other stuff. If you're not into organic, you should AT LEAST still go organic on dairy and most fruits and veggies. You already have a brain disorder - no sense adding fuel to the fire with tons of neurological targeted pesticides and what not. It just doesn't make any sense for people like us to not eat an organic diet. My kids are a lot calmer since we switched to 100% organic diet 3 yrs ago. For us - it just made sense to go all in, and just buy things in bulk to keep it cost effective. Okay, enough about that ; )
It's funny you should ask about the bee pollen - the person who my husband spoke to at work (a fellow AAer) who pushed him, to push me, into checking into AA and that it wasn't all religious etc. and got me here at least to this site which in turn got me to my first meeting ---- is a bee charmer ; )
So I had been getting fresh from the Amish - but now I will be getting it from him I think - he also does maple syrup and oooooo it's so good to have it freshly cooked!
The only reason I did fresh instead of frozen was because my neighbor told me it was good to have the pollen from what's around you in your environment... especially if you have allergies to any plants... which I don't so I have considered buying it freeze dried... what are the reasons YOU wouldn't do that?
