1Heat oven to 350°F (if using dark or nonstick pan, heat oven to 325°). Grease bottom and side of 10-inch springform pan with shortening. In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, water, oil and 2 eggs until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread in pan.
2Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until puffed in center and toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
3Meanwhile, in 1-quart saucepan, heat 1/2 cup whipping cream and the caramels over medium heat, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted. Stir small amount of the hot mixture into beaten egg, then stir egg back into mixture in saucepan. Cook over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir in pecans. Spread over brownie. Refrigerate uncovered at least 3 hours until chilled.
4Run metal spatula around side of pan to loosen dessert; remove side of pan. Transfer dessert on pan base to serving plate. In chilled small bowl, beat 3/4 cup whipping cream and the powdered sugar with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Spoon whipped cream in 12 dollops around edge of dessert. Cut into wedges to serve. Store covered in refrigerator.
Expert Tips
Mark the top of the dessert with a knife before adding the whipped cream garnish. That way, youll know the whipped cream will be centered on each serving.
Whipped cream from a spray can works great for this recipe--and saves the time of whipping the cream.
Make the dessert up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate. Up to 2 hours before serving, beat the cream with the powdered sugar as directed.
Just think of the joy you can bring others by serving it ??? .... Oh, and give me a call, I'll be there!!! ... oooooh, it's soooo good!
P.S. Tiny pieces people ... eat tiny portions ... I ate one the size of the picture, and nearly went into a chocolate/sugar coma ... but Lord was it heaven ... Sorry leeu, but maybe if you have some extra meds around, you can try a bite ... you'll never forget it ...

me neither, I'm a straight up sugar addict. I been dieting and going to the gym for a couple of weeks, lost 11 lbs.
Not sure, but I think most of us alcoholics are sugar addicts ... that gets away from me sometimes too ... and the 'not smokin' ain't helping to curb my sugar appetite either ... I'm starting to wonder if a person can O.D. on sugar ... or chocolate ... (wife is watching 'Bones' on TV, or something, someone just came in and asked for Dr. Sweets ... LMAO) ...

I heard something pretty powerful a few years back. For us sugar addicts, sugar sets off an overeating response, just like drinking does. I can't have that first bite of cheese cake or ice cream. I've been working with a "nutri-bullet" food processor for 18 days now and a fridge full of veggies and some fruit. It's a real treat now to have a couple bites of pear or apple, delicious. lol
Okay, just so ya'll know ... We haven't had to enlarge the exit door to the house just yet ... LOL ... I do love my sweets and I probably indulge a little too much a little too often ... but dang, that's one of the things about being sober that I love ... Don't know about you guys, but I literally would go days, if not weeks without food just to keep my buzz ... I had lost a lot of weight due to alcohol ... (not very nutritious) ... when we drink like I did, we kill off so many 'taste buds' that everything we put in our mouths tastes like cardboard ... (ever have 'cotton mouth'? ... that's when your tongue surface turns white because of the dead taste buds ... easy to spot) ... at that point, we can barely feed ourselves, much less find and prepare food to eat ...
2 more things ...
1) my Dad came down with some kind of muscle disorder I can't pronounce, much less spell, and it affected his swallowing ... they put a 'feeding tube' in him and he lived for a year off that thing ... (he was in his mid-70s) ... finally, he said that's enough, the smell of food being served daily to everyone else in the family drove him over the top ... So he capped off his tube and started eating, very little at first, regular food ... he said after a year of not tasting any food, this was incredibly rewarding ... guess what?, he regained his strength and the docs pulled out his tube and Dad lived on to 84 before he died ... (I don't recommend what he did ... just sayin' ... Docs don't always know the best for us) ... But I'll never forget, Dad said that if he had to go back on the feeding tube, he'd rather just go on and die, life wasn't worth living without the pleasure of eating and tasting your food ... he especially loved 'ice cream' ... (don't say it ... I know, I know ... like father like son ...)
2) I forgot ... ... ...
Okay, I guess I'm just saying that since the world of sobriety includes a new appreciation for food, I can't help but indulge into the sweeter things in life that were passing me by ... I know, BALANCE (moderation) and exercise are the keys to staying healthy ... at least I'm alive and somewhat 'useful' to society now ...
P.S. I'm an old 'farm boy' so I'll eat just about anything ... LOL

Hey, 20 of those brownies a day can't be worse for you than 20 coffin nails.
After 30 years of heavy smoking I can proudly say that today I'm 2 months smoke free. I can also say that the ice-cream and boiled lollies have been getting a serious work out which isn't like me at all. I'd rather eat a curry than a sweet, but it looks like maybe I didn't kill all those taste buds after all.
You enjoy it for a while, Pappy. You'll know when it's time to start cutting back, but for now quitting the fags is a more important deal IMO.
I hear ya Frodo ... I'm on day 17 without the cigs ... the food & sweets help for now ... but I know the day is approaching that I either have to cut open a bigger door, or go on a diet ... LOL
Congrats on 2 months smoke free ... you're my hero ...

Thanks RubyT, ... right now the smoking urge isn't too bad except for going to meetings ... you have to walk through a cloud to get to the door, LOL ... and I still reach in my pockets to get one out ... but it's getting better ... instead, I pull out a TootieRoll Pop ... heehee! ...
which is great except for the night I forgot to put some in my pocket ... !!!

I found the fear of giving up greater than the act itself. I'm actually doing it pretty easy now. The first 14 odd day were a bitch, but I can go a couple of days at a time without even thinking about a smoke which surprises me to no end.
