Do not use your regular email address here. Someone Googled my email address and found me on this and another forum related to the same thing.. Plus I was stupid for putting my own pic up as my avatar. I never knew they could find you that way.

Hummmmm, ... Don't think I've had that problem ... when I do list my email address here, it's always been in the P.M. section (Private Messaging) ... ... ... it allows those that wish, to contact us directly for a more personal and private relationship ... We would have to get John or Dean to chime in on this ...

I have an alias email account for forums and other stuff like that on the net. Not for paranoia but just to keep my real one as spam free as possible.

And I have a face like a smashed crab so the camera that can take my picture hasn't been invented yet.

Well Ghostman, sorry that happened. It's a concern and I have gone back myself and took my last name out of my identifiers here and such. Most of the time, I don't care that much about being identified now cuz my recovery is a strength and now a weakness.

My bosses know I'm in recovery...my family. Whatever. Being in recovery is a good thing. Being an active drunk was the problem.

I would pass out on the street or fall off a barstool and not worry about getting my picture taken....or worse drunk drive and not worry about a mug shot being taken. Recovery is really all that matters. Breath deep. Back to recovery.

Wow--I had never Googled my own e-mail address...nothing from MIP AA came up but oddly just a few very old ones from MIP NA came up. Wish there was a way to get rid of 'em!! I don't get bent if my anonymity is broken and freely do it myself in certain circumstances, but I am sensitive to the wishes of some family members and thank you Ghostman for the 'pull up'.

Ive come to realize that when I find myself getting bent out of shape about things like this it's usually just my alcoholism trying to distract me from my recovery.

I just tried googling my e-mail address and nothing came up. I don't have my e-mail listed on my profile, maybe try that.

Like PC said, now back to recovery!

Ruby - I did too... I'm surprised how many people have my full name in this world - middle included!

Btw, my email address in my profile staysober@gmail.com is bogus just for this exact reason. I'm not so much worried about my anonymity. Being self employed, I tell a fair amount of my customers that I'm sober (they offer me beers and such). I'm concerned about spam and spam bots abusing my email.

My screen name here is the same one I use on all the other forums that I'm on.

When I was drinking I always embarrassed myself.

I'm not going to be embarrassed that I'm not embarrassing myself.
