What are your favourite pieces from the literature? How do you prefer to read it?

I have a Big Book and a copy of Staying Sober. I've just started reading the 12 and 12 online, and would like to get my hands on a hard copy of that. I also downloaded an audiobook of The Big Book. It's really nice to listen to.

May I ask where you downloaded the audio-big book? I love to read but I also really like falling asleep to audiobooks. I've convinced myself that they seep into my unconscious that way. In reality think I just enjoy being read to before bed like a kid :)

Haha Sober Mc, I feel exactly the same way. I downloaded it from iTunes. I think I just did a search for Alcoholics Anonymous.

Two of the most important books in my life, have been the Bible and my Alcoholics Anonymous book. I was taught to study these books when I came into AA in 1988. They have given me all the information I needed to live my life sober, have peace and serenity. They have saved my life and my family.
The 12 step book is also very important because it expands on the steps.
My sponsor very rarely shared his opinion with me, without referring to the basic text. I very rarely took anything from a meeting without reconciling with the basic text.
I have continuously studied my AA book until I got an in depth knowledge of the book.
For example: If I am troubled by resentment, I turn to Pg 64 and start to read and apply the principles until I get rid of resentment. When I was a newcomer, I studied the doctor's opinion, over and over until I got a full knowledge of my condition.
Thanks for this post.

I am not positive about the Big Book portion but I know you can download some awesome audio files at www.silkworth.net.

Right on Gonee!  I am with you on this one.  Good, good stuff in the Big Book and the Good Book.  I study my Big Book the same way that I used to do inductive Bible study and the benefits are awesome.  I can attribute some of that to the fact that many years ago I had a sponsor who was very intensive about studying the book without aids, coming up with your own indexes, cross referencing the big book against itself based on what you had discovered.  I have applied these ideas to my twelve & twelve study as well and have begun to do in-book cross references between both my big book and my twelve & twelve as well.

I am always always discovering new and exciting recovery literature but I think that Alcoholics Anonymous and the Bible will always remain at the top of my faves list.  But honestly, I also enjoy literature form other fellowships that AA birthed and I feel that most recovery literature can yield great treasures if we truly explore it.

Have a great day.

I really like the poem "Look to this day" in the front of the Twenty Four Hours A Day.
