I finally made it to my first meeting.  It was a small group which was nice. Not too intimidating. Just 4 others. 2 men, 2 women. 1 month to 8 years sobriety.

It was a meditation meeting but because of me they changed it to a first step meeting. Very nice group. After the meeting they were already telling me who the women were who would be willing to be sponsors.

Going back tonight at 8.

Can't wait!

Wish my books would get here!

That is so great, Christine! Happy to hear it. You can read the Big Book online too, I believe.

It was nice to be able to say I hadn't drank since the 23rd. I want to thank all of you for that! I couldn't have made it this far without all of you. Thanks for putting your stories out there and being so supportive of everyone else. You have been my safe port lately.

Great Christine! So glad you enjoyed your first meeting:) its funny to see how similar our paths to AA were.. I also found this site on my first day of sobriety, and went to my first meeting 10 days later ( I believe you're 11 days now?). The people and stories on this site made it a lot less intimidating for me to open the door to a meeting. So glad you are going to a 2nd one tonight!

Very Good Christine...it's an added bonus when you like it and can't wait for the next one.   It was soooo different for me...I had a lot to do with that.  Here's a slogan to carry around with you.  "It works when you work it"...Happy New Year and keep coming back.   (((hugs))) smile

I'm chickening out of walking downtown in the dark. I think I will wait till morning. Hoping to run across someone who will pick me up for evening meetings. I don't live out of they way for most people. Fingers crossed.

Did I mention I am a little afraid of the dark?cry

The first time I looked up meetings here aI only found a few. Turns out there are many. Now I can be picky! Lol!

That is awesome! I remember my first meeting and I couldn't sit still but I stayed even if I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin!
