Just a few weeks ago I didn't know how I would make it through the holidays sober. A few weeks before that I wouldn't have cared. Thank you to everyone for all your support and guidance. I am in gratitude. Love, Chaya

We love you too Chaya, that's why any of us are here to begin with ... but the holidays are just getting cranked up, so stick close to us here and we'll help each other through them ... I am also in gratitude for our sobriety ...

In the 'Racing world', they say 'cautions breeds more cautions', in the world the say 'evil breeds more evil' , but here on this board and in the rooms of AA, 'sobriety breeds more sobriety' ...

Im also very grateful to be sober and amongst sober friends this holiday:) Around here we have "Alcothons", which are 24 hours of back to back meetings over the holidays-Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Labor day and 4th of July. Not sure if this is a universal thing in AA, but it's very comforting to know one can get a meeting at any time over the holiday. Do you all have these around?

Hey Col, ...

Yes, there are places where the 'marathons' are special events on holidays ... but that's usually in areas that have AA 'clubs' (a dedicated house or building or place that's only used by the local AA'ers ...) the ones like Dean refers to sometimes ... they can be found in larger metropolises ... where I am, there's one 30 mi north in the middle of Atlanta and I think another 12 mi so. ... as far as I know ... So, ... they do exist ...

We have 2 local places that have marathons running for the holidays with dinners and all! One of my sobriety sisters held a meeting at her house tonight since the church was closed. It was wonderful. It reminded me of what those first meetings would have been like. Afterwards we had a wonderful meal she had prepared and then just stayed to talk. It really helped keep me sober tonight.
