Prior to AA and my Spiritual Awakening as the result of complete the 12 Steps of AA, I always looked for what was in it for me with a good deed. What material or emotional thing I was going to get. Motives were not from Spiritual roots. It's wonderful when you can give freely to someone else and not expect anything in return. Just a warm feeling of freedom and gratitude.

The essence of the saying "it's a selfish program". Our motive for giving is that we must give in order to help ourselves. Only through giving do we receive.

Wond'ring aloud -- how we feel today. Last night sipped the sunset -- my hands in her hair. We are our own saviours as we start both our hearts beating life into each other. Wond'ring aloud -- will the years treat us well. As she floats in the kitchen, I'm tasting the smell of toast as the butter runs. Then she comes, spilling crumbs on the bed and I shake my head. And it's only the giving that makes you what you are.
