Okay, so I'm standing on the back deck a little while ago and there's this sudden 'thump' near me that caught my attention ... I look over and see this beautiful little bird, laying upside down on the walk beside the house ... I reach down and pick up the bird not expecting much, but the poor thing was still breathing ... I held her in my hand and her head lolled over and her beak was open with her eyes closed, breathing hard ...

I thought you poor thing, you took a wrong turn and now it looks like this is the end ... As I held her upright, I noticed she continued to breathe, rapidly, but still breathing ... so I stroked her back and her breast and thought, God what a beautiful bird you have here, and I also thought, wow, what a shame to lose this little thing for making a wrong turn ... so I was thinking how I had made a wrong turn in my life and how I was given another chance ... so I thought, in silence, please Lord, let this bird live another day ...

I took her inside to show her to my wife and showed her how she was still breathing ... she said what are you goin' to do ? ... I said I'll stay with her and keep her upright as long as she's still alive ... Well, I kept stroking her and talking to her and after about ten minutes, she closed her mouth and opened her eyes ... I sat her on a twig but she couldn't keep her balance (she looked drunk, honestly) ... so I held her in my palm for another 2o minutes or so ...

She finally gained enough strength for me to sit her on the twig again and just sat there, free, but not leaving ... I continued to come back off 'n on to stroke her and talk to her ... she just kept following me with her eyes, but did not seem to want to fly away ... After almost an hour from the beginning, she seem to return to full life and when I touched her last, she took flight ...

I simply want to express my gratitude to God for this wonderful experience ... His creation was nearing certain death, only to be revived to full glory ... WOW, then the thought struck me, He did the same for me ... talk about your 'WOW' moment ... I just had one ...

God Bless,

Pappy

Great story Roger, thanks for sharing. Life is precious and fragile. God wasn't ready to take him.

One of the 1st things I thought of was your story of the ducks Jerry (or maybe it was Frodo) ... at least I think it was your story ... I remember the names you gave the ducks for a long time, but alas, I forgot ... but the story stuck with me ...

Definitely a 'higher power' at work here ... and touched my heart like no other could ... I am grateful ...
