So, I was off again because of Sandy. My sponsor and I went to a noon meeting in a town near home. We were early. There was no electricity. It was in the basement of a local church. No food...Coffee etc... Damn if that meeting wasn't packed. Man, what an awesome meeting. People who have not had power for days came out just to share in that fellowship you can only get in AA. We sat mostly in the dark except for the light from a small window. The guy we met who opened the church, Manni, he was the guy who gave me my 24 hour coin back on July 31st. He made me read the daily reflection that day in July and it was the serenity prayer. I have not seen him since then until today. I was able to share about how his handshake and smile made me come back and the reason I am here today is because of people like him and all the people along the way. I cried like a baby, but it was worth it. God is working in my life everyday. Words can hardly express how so very grateful I am to be sober and try everyday to live sober in everything I do and say.
Wonderful share Kathy ... ... ... I am grateful for two meetings today and for seeing the one person most responsible for my recovery also ... we had the pleasure of lunch together ... Praying for things to get back to normal soon, with respect to Mother nature ...

Thanks for sharing Kathy, love the gratitude. It's fantastic that so many people showed up for the meeting.
AA is just a different kind of fellowship. I have been a member at my H-Group in GA for 12 years. I kind of notice all of the other functions and groups that come and go. Some are seasonal, some just dissolve, some meet if/when convenient. Almost any other group would have canceled
Not putting other types of groups down, just saying that AA is just a different type of fellowship. It can be life or death, we know there may be others who have to have a meeting so we go. We never canceled a meeting if we can help it, cold, snow, hot, holiday whatever.

Wonderful share Kathy! Sounds like a powerful meeting in the absence of man made power. Only the light of a HP(God) was present for the meeting. Just wonderful stuff. It's amazing that meetings continue to take place in the presence of adversity. It shows the strength of Our HP, The Program, and the people in it.
