I saw a coyote this morning. I hadn't seen any for ages and then the last few months I've been seeing them again. They are so awesome. This morning I nearly hit one. She ran right out in front of me. I was so relieved at first and then started playing out scenarios as to what I would have done if I hit her. I remembered to stay where my feet are and come back to reality. What is my higher power telling me? I looked up the symbolism of the coyote and what I discovered really fits into what I am going through right now. "The coyote tells us to be mindful of our actions-be wary of playing tricks on ourselves..." (Like tricking myself into believing only after 2 days that my obsession with alcohol is gone). "The coyote sometimes comes to us with a message about learning from our mistakes, and by learning, we become free from getting trapped. This learning can mean communicating with 'our pack' for better understanding." No need to explain that one. A grateful Chaya

Good morning and blessings of this day!

Early on in my daily recovery I would remind myself of a message I was hearing  from people who had found a better way to live. It says Just for Today ",my thoughts will be on my new associations(people I meet in recovery)people who are not using(drinking alcohol)and have found a new way to live. As long as I follow that way ,I have nothing to fear."I feared everything, how would I go forward,I didnt know any other way, everyone around me was struggling with addiction, most in denial. With total surrender and acceptance I was able to embrace that Higher Power(whom I call God) embrace the message that was going thru my head, finally down to my heart. The healing began,,,I truly believe the God of my understandings will for me is to be all God intended me to be.I also believe the details are left up to me, I received grace and mercy but I needed to do the work..Welcome to that new way of life,Chaya,  a beautiful name for one just like me. While living in upstate New York,I spent over 30 years sitting in trees during Bow Hunting Season and would see many coyotes.Beautiful to watch, not so much in the hunting area. There is something mysterious about their stare, especially when their babies are around........ ...Have a blessed and productive daysmile

Great post Chaya, ... Nature is an extension of God's hand, or 'higher power' if you wish ...

Pre-AA, i used to go out on the back porch in the mornings and drink my coffee followed by something a lot stronger ...
as I sat, I got pissed off at the birds for making so much noise ... they were so loud it made my head hurt ... imagine
going to work, or trying to, and walking in with that kind of attitude ... starting off pissed off at God doesn't make for
the beginning of a good day and all my days were getting like that ... thank God I found AA ...

Seeing nature in action reminds us that we are part of nature as well and the messages we get are all important ...
this reminds me of an old quote from long ago and I don't remember by whom ...

"Anyone can change the world. It begins with the simple act of kindness, it begins from within."

Today I can appreciate the birds and their lovely music ... and the occasional deer, rabbits, and chipmunks ... through
this program, I've learned to love life, I've learned to love me ...

God Bless,
Pappy

That's cool. I saw an eagle early on, it landed on a sign right in front of where I was going to stop. It seemed to be a sign. What does seeing an eagle mean to you? I made up my own meanings : ) I thought for me it was fitting. To me eagles make me think of being watched over... eagle eyes seeing clearly. I thought that was appropriate since I was finding my higher power... felt I was being watched over all along, and no longer alone.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing Chaya!  Nice to hear your experience and bring it back to a God of your understanding for interpretation.  Shows there's a God consciousness in your life.

Nature and animals are spiritual for me.  All creatures of our creator.  I actually feed birds today and keep native plants around the house for the animals to enjoy.   I drive in my yard after work and a covey of birds meet the sky.  Actually had turkeys one morning.  I think the Coyote is a beautiful animal.  My dog actually has a resemblance of one.
