Addiction - Surrender - Recovery. Adagio for Strings - Op. 11 Samuel Barber

This isn't a sad song after all.  To me it feels like living with alcohol addiction - surrendering to it - and the calm of recovery.  I listened to it laying on the floor in the middle of the room with my surround sound on my freshman year in college.  It was one of the first times I drank and felt music differently because of it.  What I thought was more deeply.  I've listened to it many times over the years, and it was always a sad song.  But today it wasn't.  Now I know that today, when I listened to it in recovery for the first time, I can still feel it deeply, and the calm does not end when I sober up... it begins.

Wow Tasha, ... this was great ...

My 1st impression was I feel this 'awareness' ... kinda like a truth being revealed some how ... like death and rebirth and coming to fruition with knowledge and wisdom ... this made me feel the 'cycle of life' ... the crescendo being 'peace and serenity' (home at last, free at last) ... the apex of 'being' ... at one with nature ... the 'direction' God is leading us toward ...

Fantastic

Love you and thanks,
Pappy

Great video and thread Tasha. I can certainly relate to both.
