Just got back from a 3-day biz trip

In a place that's not known for its sobriety. Last time I was there was pre-sobriety. ;)

Had biz meetings for most of it and was jet-lagged like nobody's business. But went to a meeting, a small one, and was of course, right at home. Good sobriety -- one guy with 36 years another visitor with 21 years -- and a newcomer with four days.

Love this fellowship. Wherever I go, there it is.

Steve

Welcome back Steve. I just got back from a week working on the mountain home. It's strange going from 36 degrees and 40 mph winds and 89 hot and sunny. Hoping the summer will end soon here.

Welcome home! Glad you could make it to a meeting. Kinda like coming home in a strange place. Wow, oxymoron or what. Anywho, glad you made it back safe and sound! Chris

Glad you had a nice sober trip Steve.  Yes, I'm grateful AA is always there wherever I go.  What a great Program.  smile

Places that are known for massive drunkeness usually also have strong recovery communities. Ft. Lauderdale is often referred to as Ft. Liqourdale but there are over 700 meetings in Broward County every week. Where there are loads of drunks, there are also loads of recovering folks. Strange how that works.

I also love that meetings are there for me wherever I go :)

Thanks family for the responses. My wireless didn't work or else I'd have been posting up a storm. Yep, AA is my home away from home. The sense of ease and comfort of walking into a meeting, even when I don't know anyone, just amazing. Far better than the false sense of ease and comfort that I got from that first drink.

Fort Liquordale? lol Sounds like I would have like it pre-sober. And with 700+ meetings a week, I'd like even more now. :)

My sponsor told me last week that this city here in WI where I live at one time, (not sure if it's current) had the most bars per capita anywhere in the united states!!

I used to have that mentality too: Ah crap, snowed in again... what should we do? DRINK!

This winter I will be able to afford an escape to Virginia to stay with my brother for a week over the holiday, and get away from the wretched white for a while : ) I'm so excited, and not the least bit nervous about how I'm going to work that around my drinking... not to mention pay for 4 plain tickets! The promises do come true if we work for them. Pack that booze money into a piggy bank somewhere and spend it on rainy day (or snowy). Happy, joyous and free!
