So it's been one of THOSE days where nothing but nothing seesm to go right.

The suspension's burst on my car, the temperature seems to have dropped 10 degrees, every thing I've touched at work has turned into a nightmare, I'm putting weight on, the huuuuuuge pan of broth I made is..........challenging...........to eat, I seems to have endless flatulence (courtesy the broth), I cannot quite master makong oatcakes, the only close and personal relationship I'm in seems to be with my solicitor (divorced but still haggling out the financials, I swear I've funded my solicotors last three foreign holidays) and all told I was feeling pretty peeved with myself.............what to do?

Get off your arse boy, get the weatherproof gear on and get the motorbike out. Go to a meeting.

So I did. What came out of that? Well I enjoyed the ride there and back, realised I'm fortunate enough to have a choice of transport, met up with people who get off their arse every Monday to get to this meeting, the guy who goes on shift an hour's bus ride away at midnight, the guy who get's up for work at 4 am, the guy who doesn't work and walks 2 miles to the meeting. Humbling and puts htings into perspective.

Heard a great share, put a little bit back, helped set up the meeting and helped strip it down, was given a really nice cup of tea, was welcolmed.

Came home to a warm house, with food in the cupboard and plenty of materials to make another pan of soup and some more oatcakes.

It's all gravy really.

Did you say 'flatulence'? Wow, me too. Just make sure you keep it on that side of the pond, okay. My home has enough odors already.

I'm putting on some extra weight myself, winter fat I call it. It's easier to put on then take off, as you already know. I guess I have to exercise more that's all. I'm joking by the way. I have a hard time picking up the newspaper let alone exercising. I suffer from an exercise phobia known as 'Buddha Belly Syndrome'. It's a fear of bending over for those who haven't heard of it. I'm just afraid something flabby might fall out, that's all -no comments Pappy.

I hope you get your suspension fixed, quickly. Maybe it had something to do with the extra weight you put on? Just kidding. My suspension is ice cream rated in case you're wondering. It's great for those fat a** types like me. Maybe you can look in to that.

Well, it was a great day sober anyway, for the both of us. I just hope tomorrow has a better ending. Pappy do you have my glasses again; I seemed to have lost them. Have a great day Bill...

Awesome post - just loved it. There is always something to be grateful for... some days I start with "okay - I'm not in prison" and build from there, but gratitude always works for me : ) Thanks so much for the post.

Oh you poor, poor dear ... ... ... the AAADD thingy is catching up to you, huh??? ... Welllll, ... I' am shocked to learn I have that 'Buddha Belly Syndrome' too ...
Haaaa! .... I'll have to look for those "Ice Cream" rated 'shocks' too ... (my truck IS riding a little low) ... LOL

Oh yeah, I had to drop everything yesterday and go find my glasses too, darn thing was, I'd just had them on ... I swear, they grew legs and walked off on their own ... ... ...
Hey, maybe we swapped them by mistake, reckon???

Aaaaah, I love bein' sober ... AND I love you guys and gals,

Pappy

Well the suspension should be sorted on Thursday - I took it back to the garage that did the original repair, asked them to take a look. they waid ddn't we fix this a couple months ago - yep says I. Looks like either faulty parts or faulty workmanship. Can't disagree with that they said.

So.........well they say, whatever we done we put right FOC, but if new parts are needed that we didn't originally replace, then there will be a cost, which seems fair.

As for winter fat, well in winter I eat a lot of soup and usually loose a bit of weight. I passed my medical last friday despite being 21lbs overweight, still being a smoker and still being extremely short sighted. The doctor used a bit of common sense and marked me as fit, but must carry spare spectacles when climbing - fair enough. apparantly I'm really rather fit, it took several minutes of exercise to raise my pulse rate by 25% and less than a minute to recover. My blood pressure and heart rate at rest are textbook peprfect. He was a bit startled when i admitted that I used to booze - then he had to examine me for enlarged liver and kidneys - he said it's hurt and he was right - so alls well that ends well.

Doctorfound it amusing when we did the eyesight test with spectacles - all ok, then he said pass me your spectacles - now what's the biggest letter you can read on teh card........what card said I. He put the card in my hand and said bring it up to your face until you can just read the card. When i got to within inches of my nose he just said never mind. Put your glasses back on.

Can you pass them to me I said, they're on the desk he said - I can't see the desk i said........hehe

Amen Pappy. Great follow up story, Bill. Now, if I can only find those glasses. I hate senior moments.
