There's one prayer I have forgotten in recent times: "Ask Him in your morning meditation what you can do each day for the man who is still sick." AA book pg 164. This is more like a command from God for the recovered alcoholic, because neglect means certain death through relapse. Practical application means abundant blessings from God.
I feel it EXTREMELY important to maintain the our prayer vigil ... as described on pg. 86 of the BB ... I have reached the point that I have somewhat customized my prayers for me ... It just feels more real this way to me ... Part of my morning prayer will include : 'Take me today and do with me as You see fit' and 'please grant me knowledge of Thy 'will' AND the desire and strength to carry that out ... I also ask that I be filled with His Spirit so that my thoughts and actions be a reflection of His 'will' for me And that He fill my thoughts and grant me the right words to express to others in order that they may be inspired and seek His truth also ...
Prayer has given me a close personal relationship with God and I have been blessed with everything I need in this life ...
the POWER of prayer should never be underestimated !!!

A great reminder, gonee. I say reminder, as I can forget this pretty easily.
Yep, what I can do for the man or woman who still sick?
For starters, I can ensure that when I share at my meeting tonight, it isn't 10 minutes about what pisses me off and "how I just need to share to get this out"...that might help *me* but will do less than zero for the person who is still sick (and maybe even get them thinking...err. this is sobriety?)...but...I can share about what it was like with regard to booze, what happened (i.e. how I came to AA and what happened when I worked the steps and kept working them) and what it's like now (I haven't had a drink today and not for a little while).
Thanks for the reminder Gonee. I love that section of the book and the two sentences that follow.
The answers will come, if your own house is in order. But obviously you cannot transmit something you haven't got. See to it that your relationship with Him is right, and great events will come to pass for you and countless others. This is the Great Fact for us.
