So can someone give me a breakdown of these types of meeting and why I could expect to walk in to, there's three in my area that fit my schd, OD open discussion, CD closed discussion, and C closed.
Thanks,
OD is open to the general public ... those who want to know more about AA and it's practices, such as students & parents or friends of alcoholics ...
CD is for those who are, or think they are, alcoholic and the public is not invited ...
C ... ... ... Hum ... I think this is for those who are sure they are alcoholic and are there to support each other ... someone else will have a better definition ... I don't have a brochure in front of me ...
Hope this helps!

The Open discussion, means it is open to Alcoholics and non-alcoholics (usually spouse, parent or family member of the alcoholic). The chairperson will select a topic and members of the group will share their experience regarding the topic. Normally non alcoholics do not share on the topic.
Closed discussion is same as above, except that it is requested that only alcoholics attend.
Closed, closed to only alcoholics, my best guess is that it might vary from week to week on the format. Could be Big Book study, discussion or speaker meeting where one person shares their past story and what they do to stay sober.
If you are new to a meeting and do not want to share just say, " I would like to pass and just listen tonight"

From my experiences the "C" is a closed meeting for self acknowledged alcoholics. My experience is that I was asked to leave a couple of those when I didn't identify as "alcoholic". The "C" might also designate that the business of AA is done at this meeting. Pappy got the other two types nailed. Good luck...
