Adam, I would pick swiftly, pack my things and go. Time is not your friend. The entrance to recovery is a small window, held open by desperation, willingness, and hope. The sooner you get on with it, the sooner your recovery can begin. I'm exited for you.

Wrecked my car, lost my job, went to the hospital for drug withdrawal and then was revived by my brother after an OD of drugs/alcohol. Clearly, something isn't working and so with the insistence of my family and my own desire to safely get off everything, I'm looking for a rehab center, a good one. Asking you folks for any recommendations. Been looking in California and Florida mostly because they have the most options.
Pinkchip: Which ones in Florida are the best..?
Thanks,
Dods
Great decision Dodworth, glad your still around, lot of my posse didn't make it....Let us know how you do okay.Peace I will lift you up in prayer...In support

Best of luck to you Dods, you can do it. Starting over mean letting go of the past. It takes what it takes to ready to surrender. Many of us went through a lot before we were ready. If you choose a place down in south FL perhaps Mark, MikeF, and I can visit you. Let us know where you wind up.
Thanks guys for the support. Dean, I'll let you know where I end up. Either Florida, California, or perhaps Hazelden...I've always been fairly indecisive with, well, everything...this process has proven no different. That's the challenge right now: making a choice. If I'm down I'm Florida, would love to have you or anyone else come down!
The one I have heard the most good things about in this area is "The Recovery Place."

Of course being in rehab is never easy but I have never heard anyone state anything bad about The Recovery Place. That is saying a lot because people in rehab usually complain about the rehabs. Let us know where you are headed. We are all rooting for you as always.
Mark

((((Dods)))) evidently your higher power wants you around and has use for you still inspite of the disease. I hope you find the help you need. You've been a part of my journey and I'm always grateful for the support. I don't have recommendations...only prayers. good to have you back.
Now...just don't get arrested between now and Monday morning lol....I'm scared big-time of my first sober days in months. A Hoosier in LA? Kinda intimidating for me to be honest. Trusting my gut though.
You'll enjoy it. I go to CA every year. My friend used to live in Hermosa Beach. I slept on his couch on many annual trips to visit. Nowadays I have a timeshare in Lake Tahoe. It's a beautiful place. Get getting sober behind you so that you can move on to bigger and better things. This has really been holding you back.
The southeastern FL coast is littered with sober houses. There are tons of people in recovery in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, and Delray Beach. I just put those towns in order from South to North. I suggest those towns because south of Pompano gets too close to the Miami area which is rough, and north of Delray Beach gets too close to West Palm Beach which is a rough area as well.
Many young men go down there to get sober. Some stay for a year or more. Some come back up north andothers don't.
I lived in Boca in my 2nd & 3rd years of sobriety so I know the area well. It's a wonderful place to get sober. But - be prepared to deal with a lot of girlfriend/boyfriend/immature behavior, we are sick people trying to grow. Also, these places do tend to focus on money a lot, they want to be paid, but THEY WORK.
If you are serious about your recovery and make that your focus - and don't get distracted - you'll do very well indeed.
God bless you on your journey. If millions of us have done it, so can you.
