biggrin Thank You , to those who have allready welcomed me .

I am Rick , I am alchaholic . My sobriety date is 11th August 1986 , what a Blessing .

I had promised myself I was going to drink myself to death before I turned 40 .

Up till now I have had 26 bonus years . If I keep doing what I am doing now , may be another 26 .

Found this board after a friend in Auburn Ca posted about it . My wife is a Yank , so we get Stateside

every now & then . She goes more than me though .

I will come on this board as often as I can , even if it is One Day at a Time.

Ricksmile

Glad you're here Rick, ...

Fire up those chops of yours and tell us some stories ... any bar fights with Anacondas, spiders the size of dinner plates stealing your suds, sharks lunging in the boat grabbing your keg, kangaroos shaking your beer when your not looking, the barbie getting out of control and burning down the house ... come on ... give it up ... I want to hear some good ones ...

Good-day,
Pappy

Hey Rick. Welcome aboard. Glad to have you and your 26 years of ESL here.

Anacondas, Pappy? Really? An anaconda wouldn't last five minutes with the snakes we have here. Also letting the barbie get out of control gets you de-citizened and transported to England.

G'Day Pappy.

My story is pretty boring , like  - I was an interstate trucker , was on linehaul . Did a change-over half way between

Sydney & Melbourne(600mile) . Next night , same thing . oops , Melb stuffed up , so mate & I had to go all way to Melb . No freight back to

Sydney , so they sent us to Brisbane(1100mile) , had a bit of sleep going up . Stopped at a roadhouse for an early dinner late Sunday a/noon.

Heard they had a pre-dinner session at the local hotel , had dinner & went to th pub(left our trucks at th roadhouse tho). After a half dozen beers

I was getting too tired so I decided to push on & get th last 300miles done . Th mate had given me half a dozen ephidrine tabs , I had allready

taken 2 . I took 2 more & headed to Bris . 60mile down th road , old mate comes along . What;s th matter . Just waiting for this Ocean liner to cross

th road Alex . What ocean liner . Come on mate , look I left before you , we loaded out of Melb , we did this we did that , THAT ocean liner was still

there . Mate quick Look it's gone  , you can get going now . Looked back , no ocean liner . Got into Bris , had a couple of hours sleep , went & unloaded ,

no freight , 3 o'clock we all headed for th pub . 7 o'clock we headed for a caf'e for dinner , this caf'e served th Biggest , best spagetti bol ever , nobody could ,

or did eat , th large plate . I ordered th large . Went to take a mouthfull  ,  fell asleep  face first into th spag bol . Mate grabbed me by th sideburns , lifted

my head , said , he's gone . Dropped me back in th spag bol . I woke up , mates were back at th pub , th bloke wants to shut th caf'e . But he wants his money.

The worst part about it all Pappy , I Remember it ALL . To this day that ship was crossing th road . To this day , I have not done any drugs .

It took another 14 years for me to get sober .

What can I say Frodo ... you're talking to an old drunk ... and for your info, the anacondas are the worlds largest snakes ... and the most powerful ... I used to have one (9 feet at one year old) ... couldn't feed the damn thing without getting bit ... my drinking years are filled with dumb sh!t like that ... LOL

LMAO Rick, ...

Great story ... ocean liner? ... damn, I'd stop the drugs too at that ... LOL ... reminds me of when me and my beer drinking buddy (buddy, you know?, my pal ... not the 'good buddy' the truckers refer too ... LOL), we were late night catfish fishing in my boat ... a fog rolled in before we decided to start back on the five mile trip back to the dock ... we were getting low on beer or we'd stayed all night ... but on the way back(before GPS) we ran over a 'drift log', actually a tree ... it got caught between the transom and the motor ... took forever to get us free of it ... the fog was so thick we just about gave up, we were lost ...

My buddy stood up to 'relieve himself' over the edge of the boat ... he said Roger, stand up ... I said why? ... he said you ain't going to believe this ... we'd spent an hour running at slow speed to try and get back ... I stood up and damn, everything was clear as a bell ... the heavy fog was hanging just four feet above the surface of the water ... and I looked around with the 'spot light' and realized we were exactly where we'd been fishing all day ...

Made it back by standing on the seat in my boat and telling my buddy which way to steer ...

Greetings mate and welcome.  Jump in the life raft and help us stay sober.  I like the gratitude in your post regarding the "bonus years".  Good way to put it.  It does feel like a second awakening.  Thank you God.  smile
