Right on. I like to sit at the table when possible. Some rooms are all table. Others like in gardnerville nv ( the pit ) its on pit rd, have two tables in the middle of the room and 10 couches and lazy boy chairs around the outside of the room. Then in the back by the coffe pots are a few chairs, we call that death row. Id like to change out the chairs for bar stools cause thats where those people who sit there usualy end up anyway. I think of AA as a herd of animals on the plains. Those who stay in the middle of the herd dont get picked off. But its not easy to do for us anti social misfits it takes practice. Practice, for progress not perfection. Good topic and thanks for your experience.

Hey all:) haven't really been around MIP in a couple of days and it's great to see so many newcomers!! Ive realized that many of the small, everyday 'struggles' with early sobriety that I've posted about here are not only pretty common, but also perfectly appropriate to bring up at actual face to face meetings. Haha.. I'm no longer the silent one in the back 'putting the cotton in my mouth'. No, I don't have great wisdom or anything just shy of 4 months sober, but I have a bit of experience that I feel somewhat confident sharing. Another thing? If I sit up front and center, my crazy head isn't worried about why so and so is looking at me.. I can really focus on what's being said, and people are approaching me more often after the meetings. I'm slowly making friends within the fellowship.. Which is crucial. Progress.. Nowhere near perfection. Oh, wait, I'm never going to be perfect?!? Right:)
Glad you're feeling more comfortable. I'm still not totally comfortable at every meeting yet either, but there are a couple that feel like family now, so that's awesome.

Hi Col,
Thanks for sharing, sitting in the front sounds like a smart stategy. Always more action in the center of the mosh-pit . Keep working your program and in a few more months you'll be sitting in the back of the room one day and realize.....my head isn't so crazy back here anymore either. The progress keeps happening.
Peace,

Hey Rob - I get what you're saying completely. I went through the phase of having to sit in the front row, and now I try to sit all over, but sitting up front for a bit was crucial... after a while, I realized other people needed to have that opportunity.

Good for you Tasha....funny thing I got stuck in the middle of the ladies section at the meeting tonight. Once I realized it I commented that I needed to go home and re-read page 69, and we all got a good laugh.
