RIP My Best Friend Ever! (sobbing)

I'm crying like a freaking baby after me and my sister were crying together about our best friend ever dying... We had her for anout 12+ years and her name was Pumpkin, and she will never ever ever be forgotten... she will be in our hearts forever.

Poem: rainbow Bridge: Author Unknown

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

It hurts to loose a member of the family. We lost a 15 yo calico named 'Tigger' 2 years ago. I still see her out of the corner of my eye standing outside my sliding glass door. :(

I didn't drink when she died (it helps that it was about 3 in the morning and bars were closed and stores couldn't sell alcohol by then) but after that post I made myself crash to sleep because the idea to go and beg my coworker to sell to me (way past alcohol cut-off time) crossed my mind... and he probably WOULD have sold to me...

I'm fighting the urge to drink now... but at the same time I'm so not in the mood for alcohol. Know what I want? milk... I'm weird... but milk is a comforting drink as well.

I don't wanna go to work :( I should call off... but then of course laying around being all sad will probably tempt me to get some booze... so up I get for work :/

Sorry for your loss. I can truly identify. We had a beautiful cat OREO, who started suffering after we thought hip surgery and many other Vet calls would help her get better. My wife and I ,my then 13 and 16 year old kids all gathered around in the Vet room as they put her to sleep. It was a family decision and WE all cried, took her home and buried her in our yard...A little piece of us left that day but our memories will always be of the times we had together. Its not only an animal as some would say,it is a part of a family. We still have her picture on the fridge just like the kids school drawings....No matter what WE JUST DON'T PICKUP!   Peace

As someone who loves animals far more than most people my heart goes out to you.
