Hey all:) So, I've decided to clean and organize the heck outta my apartment. I've lived in this apartment for 2 years now. I love it.. 3rd floor of a huge rambling Victorian-era house. Only the couple who own the house and I reside in it-it's simply lovely:) Put simply, my place is a freakin mess-clothes, shoes, books, old bills, boxes I've never bothered to open since moving...just clutter and crap everywhere. It didn't really matter, because I don't think I've had a guest over... My time had been spent working insane hours, hangin in bars, or drinking alone here. Since I've been sober (83 days now) im STILL working insane hours, so I just kinda use my apartment as a pit stop between shifts and meetings. Well, the other day I'm sitting in my living room and i realize that my physical living environment is complete chaos.. I can't even overlook it anymore, it's making me disgusted, angry with myself, embarrassed and claustrophobic .. I need to get this s**thole in order ASAP!!!! So I have.. Just went out and got a whole bunch of new stuff to decorate..2 years after I moved in hahaha. Also finally " found the time" to unpack those boxes. How reflective of my drinking, really. And a CLEAR reminder of how my #1 priority was booze. AND a clear indication that I'm moving on... The clutter in my head is beginning to vacate or reorganize, as well;) FINALLY
Good share. I find that a clean environment encourages my brain to be clean. It offers both time to reflect and be productive/feel as if you've accomplished something. :)

Lol StepYes I AM in the midst of step 4..and yes, the apartment is important, as well.. Just a lighthearted post about moving on and getting things in order- morally, spiritually, AND physically:)
That is one of the ways I can tell if I'm going well. If my house is getting on top of me and my children are running wild that's generally a sign I'm sinking again.
I had an old timer tell me when I was new...He said you can always tell the ones that are working the steps...They're the ones getting their teeth fixed.
Sure why not? Although I've heard they can destroy the enamel on your teeth and make them VERY sensitive.. Might get in the way of the enjoyment of your icecream... I'm just sayin:) also, I may have gotten on board with your icecream thing. At one of my jobs they serve this homemade gelato- strawberry-sooooo damn delicious. So when the owners aren't looking I help myself to a serving ( not every day- ok maybe everyday.. I work hard! I deserve it). So maybe stealing icecream can go on my 4th step list of moral wrongdoing? But I don't have to STOP doing it til step 5?? Right??
On a real note, unfortunately due to my heavy drinking and neglect of my body, I have to get my full top teeth removed and get dentures at the ripe old age of 31. At least I'm finally taking care of things and trying to give my wife a great smile to look at ... :/

That's awesome Steve:) my buddy did the same thing.. He's about your age... He always covered his mouth when he smiled.. Now he's always showing off his new teeth with a great big smile
I had one sponsee for about a year that looks amazingly a lot like you ... he was about 5' 9" or 5' 10" and a 'body builder' ... same hair style ... I called him 'Meathead' cause of all his muscles ...
He too, oddly enough had a dental problem that required him to get his teeth pulled ... AND he's about 31 or 32 ... Great guy actually ... but we lost him to the bottle again ... he called me about 4 months ago and I came and got him and took him to a meeting ... He was still tipsy and I think in retrospect, he was embarrassed to be at a meeting in that condition and about to 'throw-up' at any second ... (my car smell like booze for a couple days after that) ... AND I think it was probably wrong for me to force him to a meeting so quickly ... Okay, I didn'T 'force' him, but I pretty much insisted he go ... and I haven't seen or heard from him since ... my calls go unanswered and I get no return emails ...
So I learned another lesson ... 'I need to back-off sometimes and let the person make the decision to go to a meeting when they are ready ...' ... (oh, his best sober time was about 8 or 9 months clean)
I pray he makes it back, but from what I saw, it really just doesn't seem likely ...
