Theres this weekly speaker meeting held in Portland OR that I try to go to every Saturday.  They have "famous" speakers there about once a month.  I seen some lady named Polly?  She was real good and is my wifes great grandsponsor.  They have a list and some of the upcoming speakers were Ralph w. and Clancy I.  I went last week and they said it was the week that Clancy was supposed to be there but he cancelled and rescheduled.  The only sucky thing is they dont tell you what date each speaker will be there as they want it to be a surprise.  Still great way to speand a Saturday evening with 300 alcoholics hearing great ESH.  Have you seen anyone like this? Thanks

John Larroquette, 1990, in Palos Verdes, CA. I was in the front row and he spoke for about 2 hours. I engaged him soon after he finished and we talked for 15 minutes. I had him sign a big book for my sponcee which he gladly did. It was an amazing story of growing up in New Orleans and later surviving Hollywood. No anonymity was broken here because He doesn't have any

I saw one at a convention but I'm not sure what her "anonymity" status is. She was once a major actress and boy did she have a harsh bottom. Not an A list actress but in 2 huge blockbuster movies in the late 80s

I grew up kicking and screaming of being dragged to Zig Zigler seminars on motivational speaking..my dad would take me and my bf then Rodney and we were like not again..my mama died in March and Rodney and his family came to the funeral..he actually brought up us going to those seminars and we both agree'd we might have hated it then but now that we're older we realize what a learning experience it was...my dad would drag up to Billy Graham seminars too..he knew both of these men..so it was like here we go again lol I also had the honor while working a home show in a stadium of being in the booth next to Mickey Carrolle...he was the munchkin who said follow the yellow brick road, mayor of emerald city and he was actually the voice of Auntie Em with the high pitch Dorothyyyyyyyyy...the woman who played Em couldn't get her voice that high and oh the stories of Judy Garland etc I will never forget...we kept in touch til he passed away 2 yrs ago...his godfather was actually Al Capone and his dad was the officer who would arrested Al..and then asked him  him that if anything every happened to him in the line of duty would he please take care of Mickey due to his height etc..here I am ramblin but the stories were great. Am also friends with the Author Heather Graham..met at the same homeshow and I made her cry introducing her to Mickey..her and I still communicate on FB....my nana before she died in 71 was good friends with Mary Kay Ash..she went door to door with Mary when she was just starting out and well that was just Mary to me growing up ...trust me I went to SDA boarding academy and Mary sent a donation toward a work a thon we were collecting funds for and I got called into the principals office and the Principal telling me he did not appreciate the joke then showed me the check from her...was like oh Mary ,yea what about it?? lol then he called my folks and found out it was a real check and yes she was a friend of the family lol

Sorry rambling but you know all problems aside...am 46 and told my kids when I pass away a fiesty old lady I want two words on my tombstone.."I Lived" been alot of challenges but I will have stories to tell my grandchildren when I have grandchildren,...no hurry...just signing both my son and daughter up for college...no hurry lol

Sorry Steve, no interesting speaker stories to tell. Just a bunch of average Joes trying to stay sober, that's all. Kind of the way I like it, by the way. I hope this helps

I went to the 1980 world convention where Marty Mann, Dr. Bob's son, and Lois Wilson were some of the speakers. I was involved in NA early on and rember having several nice conversations with Jimmy k. As far as Hollywood types, no, I'd much rather hear someone rather new struggle through thier first speaker meeting than someone with a polished prepared speech. One big shock doing service was seeing some of the shameless self promotion of of the circuit and want to be circuit speakers do to give their talk. I pretty much avoid these events anymore.

My ego was to big back then....I met Clancy at the Alano Club in Fresno CA and when another fellow asked me what it was like I told him I wasn't impressed...LOL   I was soooo full of myself back then and my sponsor told me "yeah...full of shit".  Funny.  I've seen lots of them since when in CA and also at the annual in Honolulu.  Father John and Dr. Paul and a bunch of others.  I've met Lois before she died and she was the tool that HP knew to use.  Take the invitation to do a speaker meeting yourself Steve.   smile
