Some of these 'movie-makers' are genius at 'subliminal' messages ... Consciously ... a person can only barely distinguish a time lapse of 1/30th of a second ... Sub-consciously, you can record an image presented in about 1/60th to 1/100th second and be 'totally unaware' that your mind recorded it ...
So, movie goers are at the mercy of having images subconsciously planted in their minds ... When this was discovered, years ago, 'drive-in' theaters had significant increase in 'concession' sales because the movies playing had the quick 'flashes' of a 'soda' or 'popcorn' or 'candy' in the scenes ... those watching were totally unaware ... but they got an unusual desire to go get a soda or popcorn or candy ... they never knew that the movie told them, subliminally, to do so ... a lot like a hypnotist does a subject ...
I thought they made that illegal ... Pinkchip or Dean or someone will probably know ???

After doing a few readings... The morals/plot line of the Disney movies is so glaring, I'm hardly enjoying the movies any more. (watching Mulan after I watched lion king).
Has this happened to you with any movies?

There's just oddities with Disney... for instance the word "sex" appearing for a millisecond in the clouds in a scene of Lion King, the towers of the Little Mermaid palace looking like male genitals... those Disney people are really being just wrong hiding things in their movies that kids will never notice or understand even if they notice it... but that still doesn't make it right to put such things in them...I don't know what their deal is.
BUT being a big kid like myself... I still enjoy rewatching Disney movies as an adult.
Huh???? I have watched Lion King and Little Mermaid and other Disney movies a million times (I have a kid with autism and he LOVES Disney), and I must say, I have never noticed the word "sex" in the clouds or that the towers of the palace in Mermaid look like male genitals...... guess that's a good thing, for me at least.

That's the whole idea Nezyb, ... subliminal means you "don't" notice it ... not consciously anyway ... ... (it just means that some people will get up at the end and wonder, why am I horny???)

I can honestly say that I have never finished watching a Disney movie and felt horny. Thank goodness for small favors. Not sure I'll be able to sit through them anymore though...LOL

Nezy.. I was talking about morals, and we got side tracked... Lion king... When your a kid you don't realize it teaches you about coming of age, personal responsibility, 2nd step, and forgiveness. Mulan about being who you are true to yourself, again-- 2nd step. That's what I was originally reffering to.

What can I say, sometimes it takes me a while I do get the whole morals thing about the Disney movies. I think thats why, after almost 20 years, I can still watch the same ones over and over. Truth be told, I can recite many of the scenes by heart. One of my favs is Pochantas and Colors of the Wind... You can own the earth and still all you'll own is earth until you can paint with all the colors of the wind... Thanks for clearing that up for me, Neophyte. Now I can continue to watch and enjoy them.

I'm not a movie buff per say, so I won't comment on the whole Disney thing. But as far as comparisons go, you make a valid point Neophyte. There's a lot we can learn from the world around us -including movies, and how that relates to recovery. So it's a great point of reference Neophyte, thanks again.
