...and, he turns off the tv. It's dark, only the light from outside comes in. The soft nearly undetectable sound of electricity, or prehaps the sound that my ears pretend to here in the nocturnal silence, hums in the background. Further still, in the background, I can hear the occasional whisper of a car traveling 60 miles an hour on a desolate expressway. A sound few and far between, a reminder that we are in suburbia.  With out the bombarding stimulation of the ever burning sun, the sound of waking and busy neighbors, co-workers, ringing phones, or innocent animals, no distractions or pressing matters other than how much time I have to sleep before I begin work tommorow.  Yes, it is the night, a blanket seems to come over the world. Dampening and counteracting the busy nervous stressful days.  A time to calm yourself. To smell the earth, feel the air. To appreciate at slight pause that comes over when the lights go out and doors shut. Yes, I do appreciate the night in all it's calming effects. Now the question, to simply lie down awake to enjoy each stress free moment, or spend this time unconcious of it all and merely sleep through this gift? I wonder...

I know a few people who rise super early morning, like 4 or 5 in order to catch the sunrise, and talk to hp. I also live with one, so i always feel intrusive if im up that early too. For me, i can spend 3 or 4 hoyes a night appreciating the calm and recognizing my up. Especially when there is a real heavy storm going on. Oh the Power of Mother nature.

That was like reading an 'excerpt' out of a good book ... ... ... the way I see it ... the enjoyment of the stress free moments just prior to blissful sleep is what 'serenity' is all about ... so our gift is two-fold ... we have both, the stress-free moments to enjoy AND then we have a calm restful sleep to be grateful for ...

It just doesn't get any better than that!!!

God Bless,
Pappy
