Welcome runnergrl, ... ... ...

I am in Georgia now ... but I was born and raised in Nashville ... 'The ShadeTree Group' used to be my home AA group there ... they have a lot of meetings and are located on the east side, in the Two Rivers area ... on Lebanon rd. ... near the 'Blind School' ... (Donelson/Hermitage area) ... good group ...

Two days is a great start, keep us up to date with your progress and don't hesitate to ask questions when they come up ... we're family here, and we're here to help ...

God Bless,
Pappy

Check out this site...It gives you a good insight on meetings...What to expect. It's a good idea to be careful detoxing that's all....I don't know your drinking history...Bit I drank enough I needed a 5 day inpatient medically supervised detox...Not saying you do...Just saying be safe.

Welcome grayduchess...Just be careful detoxing...That can be dangerous....If you talk with a doctor about what you are doing it's not a bad idea....Might make it easier for you, as well as safer.Have you gone to an AA meeting yet?....Meet some people that have been through what you are going through?....It helps a lot knowing you aren't alone...Glad you are here....And ask any questions you may have.

Thanks, Stepchild, and thanks for the warning. I haven't been to a meeting yet but think I'm going to try it. I've already looked up local ones. I'm reading posts right now and trying to find a better place inside my head...

Welcome 'grayduchess', ... ... ...

Stepchild is absolutely correct about the need for medical assistance to detox if your drinking history is anything like mine and his was ... You need to understand that there is a period of extreme 'high blood pressure' to go through and a very high pulse rate will be experienced too ... the older we are when we go through this, the more likely we are to have a 'stroke' ... and/or a seizure ...

Please be careful ... detox is not a game ... and you're playing for keeps with this disease ...

Take care and God Bless,
Pappy

Thanks for your concern. I think I'm ok. I've been doing this hit & quit it thing for weeks now. I'm comfortable that I'm not in any danger from a medical standpoint. I do know someone else who may be though and I will pass these words of warnings on.

Runnergirl - I'm sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread! "newcomer" caught me as I just hit here myself. Hi and congrats on some sober time.

nutsandbolts - congrats on 8 weeks!

Hi Runnergirl.  This is a really great place to begin coming if your seeking help.  There will be people in this group, and especially in real life meetings, that will understand what your dealing with. It can seem really hard at first but if you stick with it you can find a really good life.

Welcome to the Miracles board.
