I've heard for a long time, many people say "There is a real devil in the booze". Ive also noticed so many Labels and bottles of alcohol have pictures of cryptic looking things imprinted on them. They say alcoholism is a spiritual disease and now that Ive been sober for a long time Ive noticed drunk people seeming stranger and stranger as I get close to them. I seem to understand some of the things theyre thinking too. I can understand the insanity. People who drink also often LOOK sick. They have complexions and twisted physical fetures that almost reveal a? Demon like thing of some sort. Not all of them, but Ive noticed many alcohol consumers do, not just in the program. I once heard my father say "theres a real bad thing in the booze, theres a real bad one in the cocaine, and theres a bit of a bug in the smoking" I asked him this when I was young and pointed to the bat on the bacardi bottle and said "Dad, I was just getting piss drunk and this thing flew in to me" he said "Son, thats not good, that might mean your an alcoholic!" I find everytime I say the serenity prayer. I almost feel an evil thing wanting to leave from deep inside me. Ive also heard an old timer say at a meeting "Theres an evil spirit in the booze, and he's here today" Does anyone know anything about this? The truth? is there?

I can't really offer anything scientific on the topic. I have a pretty light complextion and my face used to turn red when I drank, and was always a little red when I was sober.....the devil coming out??
This condition usually goes away with some sober time, but I have seen some cases of long term alkies where the red tone never really went away.
Evil and creepy things inserted into alcohol adds?? You can't be serious

Brian, No sure on the scientific or any subliminal messages side. I do know I have a diesase that wants me to drink and wants me dead. It will do anything it can do to get me to go down that road. I would say that would be an evil spirit. Thanks for the post.
Cant buy into evil spirits in booze. Booze does not affect most of the world like it affects alcoholics which is 1% of the population I think. most of the messed up things I've done drunk I've done undrunk. Not sober. Sober people don't act like that. So truth be told, I can't blame it on alcohol or evil spirits. Over my life I have been a student of the Bigger Book and it shows more then a few non evil people drinking a bit and not being affected by evil spirits. Although Solomon in Proverbs has a whole chapter about the affects of alcoholism. My dad who is not alcoholic by any means, has been lit up a time or two and ever has been bothered by evil spirits. What I do believe because its my experience is that when I am out of my mind drunk or using other things that I used to, I open myself up to things that I would not let in ordinarily. I have been chased in the woods all lit up on booze and mescaline a time or two. Its thought provoking that the Greek word for spiritisim is also the root word for pharmaceutical. ( pharmikia ). Anyway, I used to and still can today look for anything to lay blame on to relieve me of looking at where my problems come from. Most of My problems come from the man in the mirror. That was my first AA lesson. My first sponsor had me write on my mirror ( here is the problem here is the solution ) a truth that has never been wrong. I'm sure grateful to know that in the truth I live in the lie I die.
