Can I pray for you?

AA has taught me to pray for other peoples needs. I feel blessed to pray for you, because God has been kind to me.

As a sick alcoholic, in my worst years many had prayed for me and that's why I am still here. I have still not repayed my debt of gratitude to all these people.

Whenever I am in need, whatever that need might be, I pray, but I still call on a brother in AA to pray for me. Prayer is not weakness, it's a great source of strength for the still suffering alcoholic.

Thanks Gonee, ... Those are my thoughts too ...

I have to go to Nashville today to care for my sick son, the quadriplegic, ... he's in the hospital with a stomach issue and I need to fix some of his appliances and care for his dogs too ... I could use your prayers for my son ....

Thanks and God Bless,
Pappy

I will pray for your son Pappy. You are blessed because of him. I met a quadriplegic Downs Syndrome child yesterday. I was helping to set up a wheelchair for her. She was so full of spirit that she made me feel humble. 13 year old child who could barely use a joystick, was whizzing up and down the parking like a formula 1 driver. She kept telling her parents: " I want this chair as if it was a new toy." Felt humbled Pappy, because I worry about stupid insignificant things to myself

Thanks for that. It was taught and drummed into my head very early in my AA life.

I just prayed for a girl I saw in the supermarket.  She was a heroin addict or some kind of serious junkie.  The guy at the checkout said a real nasty thing to her and I was wanting to hit him.  The girl was trying to buy some groceries with a welfare slip from the unemployment office, completely sick, everyone looking at her in disgust, completely suffering.  Where were mom and dad?  Well?  I dont think shes going home today, I dont think she would if she could.  I know what it is.  Im glad im in AA.

I hope others hear could pray for her too.

Call her "sue"

@Closer, you remind me of something I had forgotten to do, that is when there is a real need, only prayer can make a breakthrough. I am taking a newcomer now, who does not really have a passion for sobriety. Normally I would drop him and find the next person to work with. Then I was told by AA members, to pray for him. God will work with that individual to bring him to Him. I realised that the people who prayed for me did not give up on me. They persevered until I got well.

Recently one of my friends told me that she had prayed secretly for me to get saved. That's the best gift anyone can give to a friend. That's what it means to do something for someone and not be found out. Intercessory prayer must cost me something, for which the rewards are divine in nature, and I am not entitled to anything either from God or man. In otherwards unconditional prayer. Pg 552 of the AA book has a very good example which I have used.

Let's pray for "Sue" quietly.

Hey Everybody, .... ... ...

Got up here in Nashville late yesterday to find it 112 degrees in this area and many others ... WOW ... 1st I want to thank all those who had Kc (my youngest) in their prayers ... He had just recently gotten home from the hospital when we arrived, so yes, I know without a doubt, that prayers can and do work, especially for those with faith in God (who's my higher power) ... His house was 84 degrees inside, which i guess isn't too bad considering what it was outside .... The wife and I had a lot of cleanup to do for him cause when a quadriplegic gets sick .... ... ... well, let's just say it ain't pretty ...

I finally figured out how to get into his computer for the purpose of checking my email and coming here to this chat room or board or whatever you call this ...heehee ... ... ... and it's great to get caught up on things ... I got Kc's dryer fixed (overheat - non-reset-able thermostat burnt out) for those handymen out there who were wondering ... Ha! .... Lucky I found an 'appliance parts' dealer open on Saturday!!! ... ... ... You'll be interested in the cause perhaps... It seems the little 'flapper' door to the vent going outside stuck open ... ... ... A bird decided it was an open invitation to build her nest in there .... ... ... this effectively shut off air flow to the outside causing the dryer to overheat ... When I removed the nest, there were 3 baby birds in there just chirping away for their mom .... (Kc put them in a box about the size of a dryer vent hose and we set them outside on the deck near the dryer vent exit, ... so far, they are still alive ... but I do worry bout this heat wave ...)

Again, thank you family, for your prayers and may God Bless you,
Pappy
