SOBRIETY a precious gift.

Did AA save my life? It most certainly did. Was there anything else out there for me? None whatsoever. Because everyone judges the alcoholic before understanding his disease. Only another alcoholic is able to help because he has really been there.
Just for today, lest I forget where my help came from. It came from another sick man, who got better, and was so grateful that he did, that he wanted to pay back his debt. Sometimes my polished life today forgets who I am. I pray God that you will never let me forget my last day of drinking, 18 August 1988, the sickest day of my life.
Even if I have nothing today, let me remember the best gift that God gave me: SOBRIETY.

SOBRIETY ... A precious gift? ... ... ...

Yes, ... Sweeter than honey ... More precious than Gold ... Giving a 'purpose' to life ...

Without SOBRIETY, there would be NO useful purpose to life, for the alcoholic ... NO reason other than to make everyone else's lives miserable ...

Hi to you all, Great post.

I cant let go of my sobriety its a huge GIFT. I work hard to keep it and the thing is '' I want to KEEP it ''...

I will never forget my last drunk. I go to meetings to remind myself, I need to be reminded of how terrible this illness is. It WANTS us all dead.

So I smile back and say, No way is it going to win this time around. I am hanging on tight with all of my might lol.xx

Exactly.

I will unwrap my gift differently than you, David, Polly and Pappy. The joy is watching each person unwrap their gift a bit differently, only to discover the joy is just that... the unwrapping.

Nice one Tasha and another nice thing is that the unwrapping continues as we see things unfold and learn more when attending meetings and working with others too.

It gets in your heart and I work hard at keeping it in my heart..Love it all, always have :} I was very very sick indeed without it.
