Welcome Indio, ...

Sorry you had to experience some of the bad stuff that 'humanity' has to offer ... One of the reasons we are anonymous is because others people may see us as 'drunks and derelicts' ... and we will never progress very far, spiritually anyway, with any kind of 'bias' in our hearts ... To me, racism has no place in our organization ... But I figured it's out there in some places ... you just confirmed that ...

"Anonymity is the spiritual foundation to all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities." ...

You sound like, you too, believe that we are all brothers and sisters of the 'Holy One' ... from dust we came and to dust we shall return ... and our time here is much too brief to be filled with 'hate' of our brothers because of skin color, where there from, or what they believe ...

Hope you stick around ... I, for one, would enjoy your participation ...

Take Care and God Bless,
Pappy

WELCOME!  It is true, people will let us down but seeking that Power greater than ourselves, incorporating the spiritual principles we learn in all our affairs helps us to find serenity and peace that surpasses all understanding. I wish you well on your journey ,as long as you dont pick up ,you won't get high.WE are responsible for our own recoveries!Have a blessed and productive day...smile

Welcome. My family is Native and living on the rez in sobriety. We have White Bison here as well though we do not participate in it. I'm glad you've found 'home' and now you've found some other Natives in recovery as well. :)

I have a full blood native Great x 3 Grandfather. Have a tin type picture of him. My Father is 100% Irish, another alcoholically challenged ethnic group lol. Both parents were drunks, I had 0% chance lol. But I did decide to take the first drink. Indio welcome to the board. I wish that you'd explain this racism to me.

Hi Indio, welcome. I'm not Native, but I love the traditional spirituality that I know that many Native Americans/First Nations bring to the 12 step program. Very, very powerful.

One the guys whose story I really love, is Lyle P (and his book is incredible), whose story is in the Big Book, called "Grounded". http://www.lyleprouse.com/

He talks a lot in his writings about pow-wows and returning to the spirituality of his ancestors.

Steve
