Welcome Mrwriter, ...

We are here to help each other so you've made a great beginning ... Our most important day in sobriety is 'today' ... We learned early to take things 'One Day at a Time' ... because right now ? ... Today is all that counts ...

I agree with Frodo ... Get to an AA meeting ASAP ... because these people will become 'life-long' friends ... and they will love you as much as , if not more than, family ...

God Bless,
Pappy

Welcome.

Don't drink today and get yourself to an AA meeting ASAP, is the best advice I can give you. You might want to talk to a doctor about the detox too.

If your head is up to it have a read of this when you can:

http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/

Don't worry if you can't just now. I couldn't the first week or so, but do get along to a meeting. That's where it'll all begin.

It's a great life this program offers. Better than I ever thought possible.

Welcome Mrwriter. It's great to have you here. As others have said Sobriety is best found face to face through AA meetings. There you can find a like minded soulmate to guide you through what it takes to achieve long term sobriety. Here you will find fellowship, insight and support, but we are not a substitute for the real thing.

God bless,
MikeH

Two days is a huge achievement. Two years ago I would have been begging you to tell me how you did it.

Hi guys, been quiet the last few days due to visits with Family, pleased to say that I am still Sober 9 Days now!!, day at a time. I have been enjoying Running, and eating a lot. But despite several Jubilee offers of a trip to the Pub I abstained in favour of food & Water. Hope everyone is safe and in a good place. Cx

Keep some lollies (candy) handy. It helps cravings or somesuch. I'm not sure how it works but every AA meeting I've been to has lollies at them, and I've seen people swear by them here.

Congrats Chris, ...

I was wondering how you were doing ... thanks for the update ... and Yep, I too had a new found love for food at this point ... amazing how food tastes when you're not killing all those 'taste buds' ... (ya know, now that I think about it ... I think I used to have another drink, back then, just so I wouldn't have to get up and go find something to eat ... that and plus the fact that I figured if I did eat something, it might kill the buzzzzzz ...)

Oh man, ... the insanity of it all ... thank God for this program and new 'way of life' ...

God Bless,
Pappy

Hi MrWriter212 -- belated welcome. I'm sober today for one reason: I get to meetings, have a sponsor, listen (or try to) and work the program of AA to the best of my ability. It's been a real adventure, one day at a time.

Keep coming back...and help me stay sober another day.

Best

Steve
