Wow, life happens fast in the AA rooms

I've only been in meetings for a month--going to one or two a day.

To watch the miracles and the tragedies happen so fast...  Wow. I'm overwhelmed by the intensity in the rooms. So, I keep going back because I know I can be the miracle if I stay or the tragedy if I don't.

I sort of feel like I've been awaken to real life--the good, the bad and the ugly. And it isn't all about me.

Whew! Life really is more beautiful with all of its sharp edges.

Thanks for your posting today and funny but that was about my share today in our little meeting :}

AA is a Miracle. You,me and all of us are a Miracle. I share about this because this morning someone contacted me and said that maybe he was looking for a '' Miracle '' ..All I could say was he was.

1. He had not had a drink in 4 days :} 2, He had been searching the big book :} 3,He was seeking some help and receiving some :} 4, He felt maybe there was a God of his understanding, but maybe he was looking for a '' Miracle'' .

To me its a Miracle that his God was already doing things and guiding him in the right direction AA :} He like us has it all in his hands and for me I need to keep it in my heart.

My number one priority. God. AA. and Others. Its not always about me ! And today I understand I cannot give away something I have not got so I try my best to get it, and give it way. Yep that's the way the Miracle works. I get something every day. A new day. A good new day without a drink.

Thanks VVT and thank you all.

Couple of years ago, I was at a big book study and I was talking to a guy that came in around the same time as me, used to come to my group, we were good friends. He was coming up on eleven years and life had come together for him very nicely. Less than a week later, my group was putting on a meeting in detox and he was there, in his detox slippers, staring at the floor trying to figure out what had happened. It can all change in a moment he said.

Later today, my group is putting on a meeting in detox. A few of the miracles I've met recently will be coming with me because they are eager to give away the gift that was freely given to them. And because I have pounded it into their heads that although many of us are recovered, none of us are ever cured. And it can all change in a moment.

"Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics." big book, p. 89

I heard a speaker who had flown 2000 miles to speak at a young peoples convention today. He said something very interesting. The big book doesn't say "when all else fails go to a meeting...or call your sponsor. It says to Carry this message to other alcoholics. It works when other activities fail.

So I agree. Don't just witness the miracles. Be a miracle.

 So very true.

I think perhaps things don't happen quite as fast as they used to. I was reading about early AA and how at four weeks the newcomer had taken all twelve steps for the first time. I'd call that fast, others might call it warp speed... but it seemed to work quite well by all accounts.

God bless,

Mike.

Watching the miracles keeps me coming back.....watching the ugly keeps me coming back also.

Love the "sharp edges" comment,  really brought me back to my beginings...lot of good things said in this tread.
