I'm a Certified Nurses Aide. It's my job to help elderly recover from surgery and or to die with dignity. I've had this job for a year. And there is a first time for everything. I walk into this womans room. Never seen her before. Begin on personal care. And as I am putting her shirt over her head, she spasms. I tell the nurse and continue to dress her. And then she rolls her eyes in the back of her head and goes limp. She DIED in MY HANDS. I just spent one of the most intimate moments of this womans life with her and I didn't even know her for 30 minutes. Needless to say, it was a humbling experience.

Thanks Ruhig. Sobering and humbling, as you say. Your reaction also shows the power of this AA program - no active alkie would or even could display the insight and humanity that you just have.
