I never forget Ebby because to me Ebby was the start .I always keep in the front of my Big Book a page from our monthly Share Mag. Like your greapvine. A letter from America. Why Ebby is my HERO. And I feel compelled to share it always.

God bless both Ebby and Bill W.

Where would we be if Ebby hadn't got religion and decided to try and help Bill? It doesn't bear thinking about!

Thanks Polly.

Great article -- while I'm grateful to Ebby for showing Bill the solution, I'm really grateful to Bill for passing it on.

Ebby thought and planned a drink but did not take it, therefore he was able to sponsor Bill. Ebby did not drink for another 3yrs and for me he'' tried his best.'' thats all we can do. How often do we hear members come back in and say they had planned their last drink. I hear this so many,many times.

I talk of Ebby to all my sponsees before we get down to the Big Book , I say this man saved Bill W , but alas he didn't make it and this is why we have AA today.

Please lets not forget about Ebby and bring him into AA sometimes. I do. I feel very humbled by this man. He is a HERO in my view too.

Discovery
From "Bill's Story":
"At the hospital I was separated from alcohol for the last time. Treatment seemed wise, for I showed signs of delirium tremens.

"There I humbly offered myself to God, as I then understood Him, to do with me as He would. I place myself unreservedly under His care and direction. I admitted for the first time that of myself I was nothing; that without Him I was lost. I ruthlessly faced my sins and became willing to have my new-found Friend take them away, root and branch. I have not had a drink since."

2001 AAWS, Inc., Fourth Edition; Alcoholics Anonymous, pg. 13 .

All I know is Bill worked very hard to stay sober and I must too. I must carry the message not only to help myself but to help others.

My God gives me strength, he wants me sober he has given me a reason to talk with others and help if I can.

New found friends and my God is my best friend today. He is my rock. I will remain safe only if I depend and trust. I lost myself and I am no longer lost. :}

Wonderful pure wonderful .
