My grandsponsor is ailing and tonight I heard my sponsor was taking him to a meeting so I went out of my way to get there.  He has not made it out to many meetings lately. He did not look good.  He is a super fiesty loud italian guy and he was very frail and not the same.  I have had the same grandsponsor my whole time in sobriety (only 3 and a half years but still)  My first sponsor had him as a sponsor also.  A very important person.  34 years sober also.  I guess I will do some serious praying.

Hi pinkchip.

Sending prayers today for you and this fine gentleman.

34 years how wonderful. Please can you explain to me what a grandsponsor is as over our part of the world I have not heard of this. He sure sounds like a grand AA member and yes highly respected.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that God may supply me with strength and show me the direction in which He wants me to grow. I pray that these things may come naturally from my cooperation with Him.

I pray that I may share in making the world a better place to live in. I pray that I may do what I can to bring goodness a little nearer to the earth.

"Common sense would thus become uncommon sense.
I was to sit quietly when in doubt,
asking only for direction and strength
to meet my problems as He would have me.
Never was I to pray for myself,
except as my requests bore on my
usefulness to others.
Then only might I expect to receive.
But that would be in great measure."

There are a few with sponsors & grandsponsors around here, seemingly the trio work together, the original sponsor, her sponsee starts sponsoring, and that person becomes close to her sponsors sponsor.

Sorry to hear about this Mark : (
