So, my home group is in my home. Old school kitchen meeting, A big book study with lots of coffee and cheesecake. Its just a small group, half a dozen members with some fallout from some of the other groups. Meeting starts at 8, people usually start showing up around 730. So last night, at about 6:50, we get a call from one of the girls I sponsor (did I just make a reference to sponsoring women? just ignore that). Anyway, she got mixed up on the bus and says she's going to be late. I look at my wife and she looks at me and says, yeah we got time. So I tell her to stay put and we'll swing by and get her. Of course we hit every red light, and there's road construction and about three detours, so we don't get back to our place until 7:50. Just the three of us. Nobody else shows up. I find out later that they did come, saw the place in darkness, no car in the driveway, and figured the meeting was cancelled. So, we've known this woman for six maybe seven years, she's got a little over 2 weeks in, and she really really really needed to talk. So we talked. For 3 hours. I never ate so much cheesecake in my life.
"She posted on her facebook today (and I have permission to use this) : I had a nice visit with my sponsors last night. Coming back into the program has not been easy, but now I have two very wonderful people not only helping me through this difficult time but I have also begun to find some hope again. I couldn't be more grateful to have the two of you in my life and many thanks for helping me find a starting point again that is filled with comfort, trust and love."
I was just thinking that god went to a lot of trouble last night to work that little miracle.

Wonderful, Bernie. Many times God acts to make time for the new one to share on a one to one basis. Those are the best meetings, because we an unseen Guest at the table.
I love cheesecake...and God...and stories like this! Thank you. :)
