Welcome Joanna. I didn't need an occasion to drink either, it's what I did and all I knew. That, however, is not the case today and I have "AA" to thank for that. So keep coming back Joanna, we'll encourage you as best we can.

Today is day 4 sober for me.  I did not think I had a drinking problem until I finally realized that I do not drink socially, or occasionally.  I drink to forget about the day when it is bad, and to celebrate when it was good.  When I did drink, which became every night I drank to get drunk.  I would drink before family gatherings, or work gatherings or anything that had to do with metting with people due to feeling not good enough.  I was the fun one or the life of the party when I was drinking though.  The only problem was, I would not remember how much fun I had the next day.  I am a mother of 3 and am sooo wanting a new life for myself, my husband, and my children.  I know I have not given them 100% of myself.

Welcome Joanna. You have made a great start. I was the same, happy, sad, wet, fine, noisy, quiet, warm, cold, you name it, it was my reason to drink. I found my answer in AA, you can too.

God belss,
Mike H.
