weird, sitting here at work, a new girl came over and said "hey bud do you want some vodka" I said no im an alcoholic and she said so do you want some, i said no thanks Im in the program.  The weird thing was my natural instinct was to grab the glass before it even occured... maybe it was a test..either way im still sober and willing to leave early if it bugs me too much..just had to share..

Awesome practice Steve...Yes I call those tests and also lessons in awareness...not everyone knows about alcoholism and AA recovery and many just don't care either.   No problem...No is a complete sentence and No Thank You is a complete sentence with gratitude at the end.

80 Days is it?  Thanks for the support.   smile

Not to be too vindictive, but can you turn this chick in for offering you booze at work?? Is that cool at your business?

unfortunately the owner is an alcoholic himself...who has asked me for help in the past and I told him im there for him many times... so not much I can do.. he did make it a policy no drinking at work since my last spill there (no pun intended lol) but he wasnt in today and I think it was there pre-new years eve party type thing. Its ok though, she appoligized, said her parents are recovering too (go figure) I take it as it was a test and I passed. Thank you everyone for your responses and I will PM you tomorrow Andrew, thanks!

On my first day at my current consulting engagement they were having their holiday lunch and I was offered wine. MY FIRST DAY! Luckily my "no, thank you" was not met with further prodding, but I'm always surprised how often people drink at work lunches. Even when I was drinking, I at least waited until I got home on weeknights!

My boss, knowing I am in recovery, asked me to pour wine for a company function two months ago. My new job starts towards the end of January. Any lengths... :)

Hey Steve. I have to tell you that the strength to just tell people you are an alcoholic is huge! I don't know how others feel, but when I started doing that, it really made life easier for me because of how honest it was. It is just a matter of fact statement like "I can't have that donut because I am watching my weight". Very inspiring!

Thanks for postive message of hope Steve......that time will come,as you continue to :do the work: where that new attitude toward liquor will be given to you without thought or effort on your part. THAT IS THE MRACLE OF IT!! We will no longer be  fighting it or avoiding temptation. The problem "will" be removed....BUT....WE ARE NOT CURED,,,,WE receive that daily reprieve based on our fit spiritual condition.........Keep working day at a time and sharing that positive message...............................Happy New Year........Stay focused and in the day Proud of you man,Congrats on 80 days..,,,,the road is long with many a winding turn..(Hollies circa 1963)............................smile
