Everything keeps getting better and better!!

I started attending AA this year and it has been a great help! I had to stop drinking because I found out I have liver disease. Once I stopped drinking it helped my liver but not as much as I expected. I was still having problems with my liver, and my Doctor told me there isn't much that can be done other than a transplant. I felt this couldn't be it, so, I started looking for more options. I found this website called WCCT.com. They were doing a study on people with liver disease, so I called them up to get more information. Not only did they treat me for liver disease, they paid me for participating!! The treatment helped me and now I feel great and have a little extra cash in pocket.

Hey Steve, I got sober in '89 and, through a physical, found out that I had hep C in '90. I was fortunate that my disease was at (and has remained at) a low level. But it has definitely been an insurance policy, to stay sober, knowing that to drink again will kill me pretty quickly. I was planning on doing the pecolated alpha interferon and riboviron treatment next year, but I'm curious about this link that you posted. biggrin

Yay!! Steve use that extra cash for 7th tradition contributions.  You gotta go to give one or two or three.  I never forget the God factor of our recovery program because I have gone thru hell with alcohol related physical infirmities.  I came into recovery with a yellowish/green hue on my skin and found out that it wasn't because my mother had an affair with an Oriental person and therefore me but because it was my bladder was shutting down when I drank and just had to put the urine "somewhere" as I resisted going to the urinal while drinking.  The seizures, blackouts, early onset hangovers (get them at the start of drinking rather than after) several other maladies with the program revealed to me that when I applied the God factor...Stop Drinking!! and trust HP they all have corrected themselves...body healed...and my Asian Tan cleared up after 5 years of...you guessed it...not drinking.  I haven't had a toxic shock event for 33 years.  Go figure.

Glad you found support and healing...all alcoholics are worthy of that should we keep coming back for it.

smile
