PLEASE HELP...bedwetting :(((((

Hi everyone I am new here. I have recently realized that I have an alcohol problem. I am 22 years old, female. I have been drinking alcohol for around 6 years. I was only drinking on the weekends with friends all 6 years. The past 2 months have been very stressful. My boyfriend and I of 3 1/2 years broke up. I broke up with him and I am happy without him. Happiest I have ever been, actually. Just worried about financial issues and getting my own apt. The past 2 months I have drank everyday besides maybe 5 or 6 days. I don't just drink a little when I drink either, I drink until I pass out everytime. What has got me to the point of coming to these boards is, the past 3 weeks I have been having episodes of bedwetting. The past week it has happeed twice. One week it was like 5 times. It isn't just a little either, it's like a whole bladder. This is SO embarrassing because this guy that I really liked, I slept in his bed with him, wet the bed and ever since he hasn't talked to me. I was so embarrassed I left without saying bye. Am I dying of liver disease or liver damage at 22?!?!!?!?! Are my kidneys failing?! I was checked for UTI's and bladder infection, all negative. Please someone tell me I am NOT dying. Has ANYONE had this problem!?!??! I also get withdrawal symptoms. I didn't let myself drink yesterday or last night and I woke up feeling shaky, tired and my head just feels weird..I also wet the bed again last night and wasn't drinking alcohol. My head feels Like numb, or some weird feeling I can't explain. I get sweaty palms... and extremely irritable when I am not drinking most of the time. Someone please help, I am scared that I am dying of liver damage or liver disease.

Hi K, This is most likely caused by alcohol and that can kill you No one except you can decide if you have an alcohol problem but I suspect that you may benefit from getting to A A meeting Alcohol-ism is not a weakness , its a sickness This is what I would suggest but the choice is yours J

Hi again, Also think that if you get alcohol withdrawal like that you need to see a Dr and get some help because you sound very ill The good news is , that you can recover , but we all had to get some help to do that Jess

I really suggest you see a doctor. Find someone you can trust. I just went on a drug called antabuse. It makes you quite ill if you drink. I hate being sick so I know it will be a deterrent. I had to take a liver and kidney test before my doctor would prescribe it. Really, get a check-up. Take care of yourself. I've decided to do this same thing for myself. No alcohol and eat healthy to gain some weight. I don't know about you but I'm going to do this! You on board with me? Jacq

I agree with others, a doctor is needed here! Alcoholism is life or death for many...

Aloha K...Everything you are going thru are alcohol connect syndromes even the "fears of" and yes also Alcoholism is a fatal disease.  Get Sober or go crazy and die is what I was taught.  I reached the crazy stage very well and then Alcohol affects every part and organ of/in our body.  What you are going thru, you are supposed to be going thru as a result of the way you drink and there isn't a "normal" way to drink a toxic mind and mood altering chemical.   Soooo you have received Doctor hints and these are good and there is the AA Central hotline number in the white pages of your local telephone book.  AA is what has worked for me and for millions of other me's...give it a call?  Keep coming back here to MIP cause this is family and we are concerned and supportive about our members.   (((((hugs))))) smile

The fact that it happens when you have NOT been drinking makes it very clear that you need to see a doctor.

Hi Kendra,  Welcome to the MIP board.

I quit drinking at age 24 and I had similar withdrawl symptoms, get emergency help if they get worse,  but I would think they will go away in the next 3 days.

I'm 51 now,  and my body has repaired itself 100% and my health is excellent, many of us have had bed wetting episodes, and they will subside but obviously see a Doc if they countinue.

After about 5-7 days physical detox will be over.  The only thing that works for long term soberiety for myself and many others is the program and fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The mental part of the disease is the most difficult.

Call your local AA central office tell them you want someone to meet you at a meeting or pick you up.

Dr's opinion in the AA Big Book:

Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are restless, irritable and discontented, unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks-drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an entire psychic change there is very little hope of his recovery

I have heard sober female comrades in AA talk more about wetting the bed when they were drunk. It's not at all normal though and you know that....No matter how you look at it the answer is for you to get sober.

I hope the o/p comes by again ,
might be out there getting help now . If not and the problem persists then coming here and admiting it to us might be the first step towards this person finding a solution . We can but hope .
