I was asked to introduce myself. Well my name is Donna, an I am an alcoholic. An alcoholic who as my handle says is seeking serenity and sobriety on a daily basis. Most days now when I do my do things I find it is not so hard to do the right thing. which seems to lead to the serenity.
Id like to say I love this forum. I need all the tools that I can get.
Although I have known for many many years that I was an alcoholic, I did not admit the powerlessness until 07. That year started my journey to sobriety. It has been a rocky rough road. I would really really like to say I got it first time around and have never needed to drink again. That however is not the case. At first my program was not strong enough to withstand any stress of any kind. Keep coming back is the slogan that saved me. As my faith grows my ability to withstand the stress of life also grows.
I try to live the program since that is what I see our old timers do. I am so very very far from a solid footing. It is still very much 1 day at a time for me.
I like the advice I see given on this forum and although nothing can replace my real time meetings, this forum is also a valuable tool. In the end when the stress of life gets to be overwhelming and I crave the oblivion that alcohol provided the only thing I have is my toolbox. It was empty when I began but it is comforting knowing that it is getting a wonderful assortment of tools in it.
good morning Donna, so nice to have you join MIP. we are here for each other, whether to vent, share, question, or comfort. the support is great and sharing experience, strength, and hope with other recovering alcoholics is another way to grow emotionally and spiritually... we have to 'give it away' to keep it. keep checking in and sharing. big hugs, jj/sheila
This is a great site ... lots of sharing ... lots of giving ... and those of us who need something usually find something we can take for our own growth ... It won't take long to figure out, if you're an alcoholic like we are, that we're all the same here ... only the names are different ...
Enjoy and God Bless, Pappy

We have the most beautiful forests here in the north and yeah I feel like a sapling in a forest of serenity stuggling to get those rays of sunlight so I can also grow
Welcome Donna! Look forward to knowing more about you. :)
