Just curious to what your favorite type of meeting is, newcomers?  Book study?  Mine is the one Im heading to now, its a open topic candlelight meeting.  I really like the atmosphere and theres always something I needed to hear in it..

an "As bill sees it" meeting. where the chair picks a topic (such as fear) and all of the pages referenced in the index are read, followed by a discussion. This produces a very focused discussion.

I like a mix. Only about 25% of my meetings are speaker or "lead" meetings, but I kind of like the fact that I can just focus on the message. In participation meetings I find myself trying to figure out what I'm going to say, instead of focusing on listening .

If you ever have a chance go to:

Newburgh group in Cleveland on Sunday night, a very old group, big on gratitude and humility.

King School Weds in Akron Oh, the first ever AA group still going strong.

I think my favorite type of meeting is a meeting I can walk out of having learned something. I haven't been to one yet where this hasn't happened. My sponsor told me, "There are no bad meetings...Just bad attitudes."

Hey StepChild, ...

You just reminded me of a situation a long time ago with my sponsor ... Thought you and others might get a kick out of it ...

Early in the progarm, I decided to stay home one night and watch TV and forget about the AA meeting ... I thought I needed a break ... My sponsor called me the next day and asked, where were you last night? ... I said I stayed home and watched TV and I enjoyed it so much, I might do it again tonight ... He said, WELL, you missed it! ... I said what did I miss, wasn't you there? ... He said, YEAH, but I only heard what I was supposed to hear ... WE'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT IT WAS YOU WAS SUPPOSED TO HEAR!!! ... and I thought, .... My God, you got to go every night or you'll MISS IT!!! ...

I will remember that for the rest of my days .... If ya don't go to the meeting, you'll MISS IT!

Take Care and God Bless,
Pappy
