I wasn't able to find an introduction thread, so I apologize if this is in the wrong area.
I've been sober for about 3 days. Everything was a blur so I'm not certain of the date. Anyway, I am happy to be sober today and want to continue being sober. I need to not drink. It's never done anything positive for me or my family.
It's very scary waking up and thinking, oh my god, I did it again and not remembering anything. I'm about to cry.
Anyway, I'm trying not to think too far into the future - just wanna stay sober today.
Looking for help and hoping I might be of some assistance to others.
Welcome and you the right idea of wanting to be sober just for today. We can't live in the past or the future but we can stay sober today. I suggest you go to meetings, talk with other alcoholics at meetings and find someone you indentify with to be your sponsor and lead you through the steps. We have all been where you are now and we know how you feel so will people at the meetings you attend. We all have to be willing to do whatever it takes to remain sober. Keep in touch with us and let us jknow how you are doing. God bless you.
Bob

Welcome Esteban, ... Glad to have you with us ... The AA way of life will teach you how to NOT drink ... AND enjoy it ...
Oh man, I remember being exactly where you are now ... Big thing to remember right now is we do this by not taking a drink TODAY, we don't worry about tomorrow ... if we get a tomorrow, we start all over not taking a drink just for today ... Go to meetings, get an AA Big Book and start looking around for someone who's enjoying being sober and get them to sponsor you ...
If your willing to do anything to stay sober, and to follow a few simple steps, then you'll be off to a good start ... (you may still feel like sh*t for a few days, but it gets better each and every day ...)
Keep coming back and God Bless, Pappy

Aloha Esteban and welcome to the board also...Come sit with us in your town in the many open AA meetings. Look in the white pages of your local telephone book for the AA Central Office and call that number to find the meeting places and times when were out and about helping ourselves and others to stay sober one day at a time. This program works when you work it and works best. glad to have you on the board...fire away with your questions and concerns. (((hug)))
Welcome to MIP! All the very best to you and keep coming back. :)

I know that I had to hold on with a death grip in the first week I genuinely tried to stay sober. People here suggested I go to meetings, are you doing that? The love and support I found there made it possible to grow into a life with out alcohol, something I could not imagine before.
Woops! I thought I'd replied to this thread. Must have been thinking of someone else.
Anyway welcome. Meetings, big book, sponsor, and the first three steps. Just immerse yourself in that for the moment. Don't worry if any of it seems confusing or overly difficult: it isn't and it's not, but right now your mind, body and soul are adapting to life without alcohol so they may be a bit too preoccupied to process it properly. Just don't drink and listen (without trying to over think things) to those that have been around a while. The stuff you'll be told will stick in your head and will become clear in time - usually when it is needed most.
Stick around and we'll help keep each other sober. :)
