Precisely. Keep it simple. You can analyse it later after the simple system works for you day after day. Live the simple program and use your mental skills to disect and manage things that CAN be managed. Your drinking is not something that can be "managed" without the 12 steps. It can not be managed by you "controlling" it by using your intellect. It can only be managed by surrendering the direct fight and trusting your HP to take over the battle. If you arrange your life so that you are well suited to allow your HP to work, and alcohol is sidelined to maintaining the program, you can grab the "reasonable happiness" that the program promises.

it was a joke. I noticed that the default paragraph is now centered and I noticed this while intense study of Pages 60-64; on being selfish and self centered.
Well, then it was easy to move to justification (type left), arrogance (justified right) and finally....split-justified in which all the characters are evenly balanced according by some mysterious force (word processing).

I noticed the joke. You sound like you are looking up a bit more Rob. So glad you are back with us. Many of us care about you. I was thinking about you in the fishing hole and suffering the way you described...it made me feel worried and sad for you. I really want you to get healthy for you, but also so you can help others.

Thanks, Mark. Today I gave God my life...and He gave me a chest cold. Funny old It, that God-O-Mine... My wife has let me sleep all day. God's brain that I'm renting figures that I can still at least do some dishes and make dinner. She's a nurse. I'm sure she has some latex gloves I can use for food and clean dish handling. If I'm good to God's body today, He may let me take it outside to dig some very, very important post-holes before the ground freezes.
I am very glad also that you are back on the board and considering your recovery.
I did not get the joke, but I could tell some humor was a foot. I'm a little dense, more serious I guess. Been finding my funny bone more, just sometimes I'm the only one laughing... Under my original inventory asset list I put "analytical". Today I'd still say this is true, but I've gotten much out of the suggestion to keep it simple, keep coming back and work on the 24 hour plan. Now I am seeing ever deeper meaning in the things that I considered so mundane before.
Angela - Hi. Good to be back and I'm seriously in recovery. Since you're very analytical, the joke might fit you once you see it. It has to do with how type is arranged on a page, or in this case, the posting area. Like right now it's centered. Centered is the default setting, ans SELFcentered is OUR major fault. The rest of the joke just rides on the back of that point but with different character (and type-setting) traits; justified, right and equally balanced.
Fault problems usually cause earthquakes!
