for me, it started with step one. understanding my powerlessness not only over alcohol but over most everything. surrender. realizing that if i was able to change myself i wouldn't have been an alcoholic to begin with. armed with that knowledge, i was able to ask God to come in and do what God does. what a great job he is doing. i think i will continue to seek him!

That's interesting. Mostly, cuz I would say the same thing. Seems like we only accumulate some sobriety time once we really come into the rooms surrendering rather than with notions of fighting off alcoholism or going to battle with it.
