A Great Day for Recovery!

JUSTICE

"Justice is truth in action."
-- Benjamin Disraeli
It is not enough for me to believe that a thing is true, it is important for me to live out my beliefs. For too long I had a thousand beliefs that only kept me silent. A fear of displeasing others played a large part in my "lie of silence".

Today I understand justice to be part of what I mean by spirituality: I need to be seen to walk as I talk! I am uncomfortable when I remain silent in the face of injustice. As a recovering alcoholic, this "uncomfortability" is dangerous because it can so easily lead to low self-esteem, anger, resentments and relapse.

Today I know I can have a "slip" without taking a drink. I slip from where I want to be in my life. My personal integrity combines a justice that can be seen in my lifestyle.

O God of justice, teach me never again to hide in the lie of silence.

What does it take? When you're feeling down and would like to feel better, what does it take? It takes nothing more than your choice.

When there is something you know you must do and yet you can't bring yourself to do it, what does it take to get you moving? It takes nothing more than your decision to make it happen.

When your world is dull and gray, and happiness seems like an unreachable, distant dream, what does it take to make you happy? It takes nothing more than understanding that the happiness you experience comes not to you, but from you.

What does it take to live the life of your dreams? It takes nothing more than your moment-by-moment commitment to do so.

What does it take to bring achievement and fulfillment into your life? It takes nothing more than letting go of the limitations you have imposed on yourself.

When life is here and now, ready to be lived in all its richness and value, what else does it take? It takes you, and your choice to let the best of who you are come fully to life.

-- Ralph Marston

hi, wendy,  that is so true, all of what you said....re: the above, i tell my self,   "STAY true to me,  cause i am only one day from losing my ANYthing sobriety"   i don't have to get drunk to "slip"   as a recovering coda, i can get the "out of control crazies"   or lose my serenity ......so one day at a time...and you are so right   i am TRUE to me and what i believe and to my morals, my personal integrity......thanks for this nice share/ rosie
