I'm back!

Hello everyone!

I'm back from summer vacation and have missed you! It's great to see that so many of the core group have stayed sober. I am 14 months sober and life is good. I did a lot with the fellowship this summer, went on 3 sober campouts and countless AA picnics, barbeques, etc. I'm staying spiritually fit, praying and meditating regularly, and am learning about Buddhism and Taoism. I'm reading "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck and have also been reading John Bradshaw, Eckhart Tolle, Melody Beattie, and Iyanla Vanzant books. I've been doing the Dances of Universal Peace and have been learning Reiki. I got my first Reiki attunement! I have celebrated my 1 year AA birthday, have worked the 12 steps and am continuing doing 10-11-12. I have TWO sponsees! It is wonderful to be able to give back and carry the message.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the promises are working in my life. I have a new freedom and a new happiness! I'm able to be present and loving for my two little boys, and am beginning to be able to practice the principles of the program in all my affairs-- including at work! (Work, family, and romantic relationships have been the most difficult for me to apply the principles. It's easy with my AA peeps to be patient, loving, tolerant, etc!)

I hope all is well with you! Looking forward to getting back in touch. PEACE be with you! Heather

so awesome to hear this Heather, it seems so simple doesn't it?

I worked the steps as suggested and am passing it on by sponsoring others and my life is awesome and the promises are coming true at ~around~ a year

as opposed to: I've been ~in~ AA for 3 years (attending meetings, sharing about my problems at group level) and my life is a disaster, i am in conflict with everyone around me, prey to misery and depression, i either keep relapsing or am just homicidal and suicidal when I don't drink, I can't figure it out, i've identified my triggers and share whats going on with to others, why am I so miserable????

simple but not easy

good for you for carrying our message so well...by example

A true miracle in progress! Makes me smile.  And yes Lin, unfortunately, I have seen the version you describe too often.

It did take me a long time to do the steps...but Im glad I had a sponsor and was trying and actually working them from the start.  So many people do exactly what you said.  The promises don't come true from working a half-assed program.

So newcomers - Be like Heather!!  Utilize all the tools AA has to offer.
