What a great God shot! Thank your Higher Power you walked away from the accident! Same thing happened to me at 7 months sober after I had just done my third step...I was driving my mother, my two children, and my neice in my Mom's car and was hit by a Kenworth tractor trailer, a HUGE beast of a double truck, and the car was totaled. The driver did not know he was even hitting us, he sideswiped us going around a turn, and kept on crunching the car, squishing it like a pop can, and I heard that quiet inner voice say, "HONK THE HORN!" So I did, and miraculously he heard the horn and stopped. The car destroyed, I was covered in broken glass, but we all walked away from the accident with just a few scratches. I had much to be grateful for that day...and every day. Glad you're still with us! Heather
It was pointed out to me that I came to my first meeting sobbing and a total wreck going "I crashed my car...I don't know what I am going to!!!!!" 3 years later, I am like "Hrm...this sucks. I crashed my car. Oh well." That is because I am not spiritually, emotionally, and financially bankrupt now. So while this does suck, my ability to handle things is radically different now and this is proof that the program works. I have faith where before I only had fears.
Additionally, able to get back to an attitude of gratitude much faster now cuz I have friends, a support network and realized how incredibly much worse it could have been.

For real Dean. I used to say "I drive better drunk." I am really scared that this might be true or at least is about the same. Not that I plan to relapse.
I am clumsy by nature. I was a sloppy fall down drunk who busted things all over the house and what not. I am still a clumsy person who is not too aware of his surroundings.
