So Monday last week, travelled up to Aberdeen via 5 sites in the kirkcaldy area. Tuesday thruough friday all very productive days, convention saturday and sunday morning. Didn't get any fishing in but made friends with a couple of lads sleeping on the streets, so in exchange for a bit of chat and a few bob they looked after the car for me.
Anyway, back to work sunday afternoon, another productive day, total mileage so far just around 1000. Monday, lunchtime, both front tyres punctured. Now I only carry one spare, but no worries, my employer has a deal with a national network of tyre suppliers. Would you believe that there are no 155/75R17 goodyear or dunlop tyres within a 160 mile radius! and there won't be until Friday at the earliest!
The cheapest solution believe it or not, is to hand the car back today, get a hire car and drive home tomorrow.
So what has this got to do wi recovery? well if this had happened during the drinking days, I'd a been ranting, raving, bullying and ultimately boozing. Now, in sobriety, I can see the benefits of situations. I turn the dark clouds inside out to see the silver linings. The benefits? I get to come home 2 days early, I get to come back to scotland to complete the work, I get to drive a brand new car back home and I save an extra months personal use and tax liability by handing the car in during august instead of september.

I just love the picture you're painting Bill. Like a "Keep it simple metaphor" or a movie short of "letting go and letting God" and of course "Don't react!!". When I can do the "Don't React!!" one I see that all of my buttons are disconnected so "go ahead life...push all you want; it aint gonna happen."
Wish I was there right now and have to work at it myself. Thanks.
Thanks Bill, each time I am able to stop, know I can now choose how I allow life on life's terms situations tol affect me, make a "sane" assessment and go forward ,it continues to reenforce the positive practice I have to do daily. Somedays I am sharp as a tack, some other days I can still use a little sharpening!!!We turn straw sometimes into gold by applying the lessons we are learning daily!!!Let me walk the walk this day and remember my lessons!!!!

So it all turned out nicely. The company credit card was maxxed out so I had to hire a car on my own card. They gave me a nice, nearly new top of the range vauxhall Insignia 2 l turbo diesel automatic. 410 miles later I'm back home, 2 days early and for good measure my beemer started first spin!
