So we're having an unseasonably hot spell over here. I bought three boxes of fruit salad on Monday. today is wednesday. I kept them in the fridge. Monday was fine, tuesday was fine but today, the sealed plastic carton with the plastic film lid had swollen up. Thought nowt about it.

So I ate the fruit salad this lunch time - apples, oranges, watermelon, pineapple, grapes and kiwi. As I finished the last slice of apple, I had the strongest sensation of cider taste, the same odour, the lot. Obviously the swollen packaging was indicative that something had started to ferment.

now I'm not worried about this but the sudden taste and scent of cider did bring this fleeting thought..............hey, they pubs open and cider ain't really booze and a glass of cider with ice in front of the pub....................immediately followed by '............and yes, from there you'll be on the beer, then the shorts, then back to the cider, but it'll be White Shite, so let's have a nice cup of tea instead'.

Cunning. Baffling. Powerful............................................ and damnably patient.

Hey Bill,WHEN i WAS A KID(when the heck was that??) AND sUNDAY AFTER CHURCH AT iTALIAN GUMMAS HOUSE,(5 hours, torture)Uncle Joe from Peekskill would bring up from his own winery ,fresh stomped wine, kids would get it,"good for the blood" put hair on your chest thought pattern,.Im like 10....(who knew I had the "reaction" inbedded in me.....anyway double indemnity as we would let uncle Joes wine ferment into the most wonderful vinegar.(till this day i still  use pure olive oil/and vinegar(white now, the kind removes wallpaper) on my greens(not wine and most time i'll use lemon .Anyway awareness certainly keeps us on our toes ......:)

I went to a health food store a few years ago and was grabbing some of the latest "in" thing, ACAI juice or sumpin, and picked up 2 bottles of this chinese herbal tea I had read about that was supposed to be SO good for you, I'm drinking...pucker...do that "pucker thing" smack smack...hmmm...strange taste, drink....pucker, finally after half the bottle (12 oz) I read the label..."product may ferment blah blah" poured it out...hesitated, poured the other one out...like...oh it wasn't THAt bad blah blah...pour it out Andrew

it was like....stronger then wine...same thing, oh god now I have to sit with chatterhead for the next few hours, I wasn't worried but I got on the phone and stayed on the phone until it passed

I can't even eat non-alcoholic Tirimisu anymore. Phooey!! Sneaky little demons, huh? They're like worms in the brain that just never die, no matter how much we starve them.

I don't like to give my disease any glimmer of hope.
Many years ago on one of the time I was trying to stay sober on my own and I drank "Near Beer" all that did was make me want the real thing.
Now I always use the alcohol free cold medicines, I don't take any chances I've seen and heard of too many people fall off the wagon and lose their way and can't get back.
The more time sober you have the worse it is when you fall, I have enough time now that a fall could be fatal...

LOL, there's someone on another board I read who is obsessively sanctimonious about ANYTHING with the tiniest bit of alcohol in it. She even claims to only drink OJ if she has squeezed it herself. I ddn't have the heart to tell her that the trace amount of alcohol comes from the oranges themselves, which always ferment slightly as they ripen, not the commercial squeezing. :)
