Hi All, having recently had a house fire, am still stressed out, just when I turn a corner bam another thing crops up. Am dropping my youngest son off to work for a few months today and then oldest son decides he wants to come up this weekend, I am counting my blessings, no one wanted to come visit when I was drinking. I am now handing over the builder milarkey as I write. Ok pain happens with life but now I don't have to suffer as well.

Good for you, keep it up, one day at a time.

Thank you for the message of hope, no matter what we just don't have to drink!!Yes there are many days it will be pouring rain so we just have to reach for our umbrella, the grace of God and each other ,working with applied spiritual principles in our lives!!Pain shared is pain lessened, have a blessed and productive day....Just For Today we continue to work toward that "fit" spiritual condition which in turn with our Higher Powers guidance we can sing 'all is well with my soul(body)smilel

Sounds like your do well in some turbulent times.  Thank you for the message of strength and courage.  Stay close to The Program and God and This Too Shall Pass.  My Sponsor reminds me often that everything in life is temporary.  God won't give us more than we can handle, when we can handle it.  Sometimes accepting God's plan doesn't mean we understand it or approve of it.  It simply means we have faith and trust in what he chooses for us.  This is very hard to do sometimes......

I've learned in AA that when the Sh*t hits the fan, we don't have to turn it on.  Sounds like you've choose to keep the fan off and that's good.  Prayers sent your way.

Greetings Death-Defiers! I'm very new to this on-line caper, but it's filling my need for AA contact already, and for that I'm grateful! I'm listed as a newbie, but I've been absorbing AA concepts and practices for 10 yrs. Maire Rua's story of ACCEPTANCE was the inspiration I needed this morning. Until 2001 this word was not in my vocabulary. the slightest turbulance would capsize my leaky boat. I too had to deal with a house fire once. Arson in fact. With no satisfaction in court (including threats to witnesses), I HAD to accept the eve nt. But as my AA experience grew, I also had to accept MY part in it: I HAD REACTED BADLY in response to the abuse of my ex-partner by a manipulating criminal, and the fire was HIS reaction. Once I put myself in the picture, I was capable of dropping a deep and powerful RESENTMENT, thereby ending my frequent relapses over the event. So thanks for the reminder to stay on the Broad Highway of recovery. (not the narrow and rocky path of my own self-will). BeYouTiffle to be sober today! T

Maire,

Sorry to hear about the fire, good to see you have a good attitude and are dealing with it sober. Great to hear about your sons.
